    Default Most enjoyable sidescroller?

I've gotten bored with most games out and have decided I'd like to play a sidescroller. I know of Maple Story, La Tale, Wonderking, Windslayer 2, Dungeon Fighter and some more. I'd like to have a lot of customization options as far as appearance (hair, color, armors, weapons, etc.). Which in your opinion is the most enjoyable yet offers nice customization options?

    Thank you in advance.

This should really be in MMORPG request.
Maple and dungeon fighter are popular.

Maplestory has the best optimisation from the side scrollers I've played, with cash shop items and a few armor colours for each set.

Maplestory also has regular large updates, and I believe they have made the game easier to level with lots of fun classes to try.

    Cave Story (singleplayer)
    Awesomenauts (buy-to-play)
    EDIT: no customization in either

nice customization like cash shop avatars? or customization on character selection?

    i'd go for:

Grand Chase (avatars) (no character customization)
    Elsword (avatars) (no character customization)
Dragon Saga (avatars + character customization)

Maple and Ghost online are the only I've played. Maple is probably the best IMO

I think Dragon Saga and LaTale offer the most customization without paying though if you don't mind dishing out a few bucks then MapleStory I think has the largest selection of cosmetic stuff. I'd say maybe try one of those.

Pretty much all of the side scrollers are enjoyable if you don't take them too seriously, but they all kinda have their ups and downs so you may need to try out a few before you find one you like. To be honest, a lot of the really fun ones closed down like Dragon Gem and Wonderking or are foreign such as Tenvi and Everplanet.

Gameplay wise I found them all pretty fun.

As far as customization... they'll all need some money spent on it.

    In order of best customization
    1. Maplestory
    2. Elsword
    3. Dungeon Fighter (mix and match here can get reaaal ugly at times)

In terms of customization for Dungeon Fighter, can we change hair styles, colors, skin color or anything of the sort? I played in beta forever ago and found it fun but I just truly hate looking like everyone else. The gender locked classes are already bad enough.

If you really want to go unique from people in terms of customization, maplestory is the best route.

For Dungeon Fighter, any and every form of customization will be based on avatars, which can be purchased through in-game money or via cash shop. These avatars play a huge part in stats which basically follow (eye-candy = pricey = high stats). Customization kinda blows in this game imo, and the best ones are super pricey. Skins give damage reduction, limited to 3-4 colors (white, tan, blue, ??), hair avatars are pretty crappy mainly because the rare hat avatars practically cover it anyways. Clothes are kinda meh at best.

Wonderking is really good and really fun, only problem is I believe the devs dropped the game so its death is inevitable.
Otherwise I'd say maplestory, or latale if you get no lag.

too bad maplestory is complete trash. hold ctrl for 30 levels !!!! so mach fan!

have you even played dnf? after latale, it definitely has the best customization of any game, if you ignore stat-whoring and just go for looks you can mix some really nice shit.

Also the game is designed so that in some regions you need to walk + jump and then grab a ladder, this is not possible AT ALL if you have a high latency. So basically even if you bear with the lag, you couldn't access many regions of the game.

The Aeriagames version was perfect, but it closed down. =(
so I'm guessing you're from SEA?, coz this is the same reason why I stopped playing NA games, (just until recently with ROSE and other shitz :3 )
before I need to change my IP to be able to access NA games. lol. such a pain.
