A dull minded fellow who really isn't paying attention may think "Excellent, I don't need my pick anymore, all I need is this penny!"
But, some one who would actually bother to take a look and analyze if this was really safe for the guitar would see that the penny grinds up the strings of the guitar, REALLY BADLY. It shaves them off, pretty soon, making your guitar not sound right.
Unless of course, you were to buy new strings.
Reputation: 10... Tail I just figured that out and thought "Hey the nickle doesn't have ridges." But it doesn't come out as clear. But yea. I still advise you use picks but pennies work too if you can't find a pick :P
It's not the ridges that are damaging, it's the fact that you're grinding thick pieces metal against your guitar strings. If you want to keep going then be my guest. Have fun when your strings break.
Aww, when I first read the thread title I thought I could play guitar without actually buying one or knowing how to use one and all I needed was a penny![]()
I can get Guitar picks for 10 cents each, so If i use a dime then it isnt cheaper![]()
