If you mean games ruined because they went f2p? I don't think there are any games that got ruined by it. Now games that were shit before and turned to even bigger shit? There's a few I can name off the top of my head like APB and Vanguard. Some games transition extremely well like Aion.

lol that line Now games that were shit before and turned to even bigger shit?

But there are good games getting ruined by the fact that they changed from P2P to F2P having the market sell stuffs like upgrades or whatnot

just as long as you don't make your current players mad, going f2p/freemium will only help them. it has been proven that f2p/freemium is very profitable.

example, i know there was an uproar when lotro when f2p because the renown mounts were put in the cash shop. i read that before this, it was a mark of achievement and prestige on the servers to have those mounts.

Going from P2P to F2P only hurts the game if you put ******ed restrictions on free players that make it more miserable to play IE. TOR saying you're not allowed to use more than 2 hotbars, you gain exp slower (in a game where you needed 100% xp plus doing every single mission on a planet to have a chance at continuing without being massively underleveled), saying you aren't allowed to do instances/PVP/Space missions (basically anything DIFFERENT) more than 3 times a week.

And worst of all? You're not allowed to use purple gear, and you aren't allowed to use event gear.

Basically, if your F2P model sucks, your game sucks.

I don't think it really causes many problems now. I remember the temporary open beta that was free on Ragnarok though. In fact this comic sums it up nicely...

I'm annoyed at all these new content models that say they're f2p when in actuality it's more like free to download and log in. But then you actually have to pay to compete or have access to content. Aion's was the best F2P transition IMO, the CS was balanced and I had no problems playing without purchasing anything. Most games are exploiting the F2P title right now by having the same content as when they were P2P for those who subscribe in their F2P model.

Because they aren't f2p, they are freemium. I stay 10 miles away from freemium games, they feel like going to a theme park thats free to enter but all rides cost $5 each and the junk food is marked up 1200%.

I wish Warhammer online goes Free to play. I can't afford the subscription right now.

I would play the shit out of that game. I loved it! It would be even better with a larger community. Epic Castle Sieges with Tank lines barricading broken gates? Yes please.

I agree, pretty much all freemium games have high restrintions and "usually" to remove them you have to spend same or even more money than in a P2P game. It's no different than a F2P with horrible cash shop, the quality of the games is higher than F2P games tho.

Warhammer online isn't going free to play anytime soon, and if it does it'll be right before it get shuts down. That game more or less died years ago with the devs abandoning it for that shitty Warhammer heroes game. Real shame considering it's an extremely fun game.

Maybe you should get the whole story before you assume the wrong thing like those whiners.

If people pay attention to CS mounts, they are never as good as the ones you can earn. They will either have a slower speed or less hp. In this case, the CS mount was 10% less speed than the ones earned.

Its better to obtain the goodies though earning them or crafting them cause they are always superior than what you could get in the CS. Well, at least for LoTRO it is.

If servers are ****, if playerbase is real low, if the game overall has huge problems.
Dont forget that p2p has cash shop. I would rather play f2p or b2p and cash shop.

In the end the payment model doesent make the game, even a superior game could be released f2p with fair cash shop and it would do much harder cash than p2p AND cash shop. At least, its nowadays like this. I think.

Im sick of p2p anyway, cash shop is 100% present. Even when the costs are low and pretty much everyone can afford it. That feeling that you pay monthly for something you dont hold in your hands is painfull. If i buy 30 days i feel like i need to constantly play it because i paid for it. And then I get bored to death. I just want to take my time for that shit. I wish for all future games to go f2p or b2p maximum (no freemium bullshit)

F2P even when freemium usually sucks because either you can't trade or you can trade but the game is filled with botted items. Both sucks. The best P2P transition is what The Secret World did. Keep the initial requirement to buy the game to prevent bots and immature players but don't add anything P2W and just ask to pay for new content.
