    why do you game?
i game to escape into my fantasy realms.
besides gaming i read fantasy sci fiction so gaming is like living my books.

What is it that you get from gaming?
see new places, experience new things we would never get to experience in our ordinary lifetimes or in our ordinary physical forms.

What drives you to spend time in these virtual environments.
it is like living multiple lives.
mental exercise, like the film Avatar - we are living in another physical body.

"Are you satisfied with the current state of games?" Do you feel that games should be more advanced by now? In what ways? What do you feel that they're missing?
Answer: No, 99% of present games are absolutely crap. Nice artwork, but clearly commercially driven rather than maximising the experience for the fantasy-seeker. I think most gamers today are very shallow minded and easily satisfied anyway, so i guess it doesn't matter. I m not sure what you mean by more "advanced"? I think the way games could be more "advanced" is to actually have complete ability to transplant the soul/mind into another body much like the matrix i guess, but much more happy and joyful than the matrix is.

Another way to be more advanced is to have a much more heightened mental exercise. Presently, most games have grinding which is a mind-killer because it is utterly boring. The way to increase mind excitement for me is for 24/7 pvp (no waiting in any lobby). For other people, it is more like a lego sandbox world - a lego sandbox world for me is boring because if I wanted that I would probably go play.. lego, or use Neverwinter Nights Toolset to build my own living breathing game world. Minecraft is very shallow because you cannot program your own NPCs or be GM. In neverwinter, you can be the God of the realm if you want. So in many ways, sandboxes/minecraft is far behind neverwinter for me because neverwinter is presently the ultimate sandbox.

Only thing that annoys me is that there aren't enough games for consoles anymore and I hate handhelds.

I'm fine with the MMORPG situation.

I started playing games with my SNES, moved on to the Playstation, PS2, then PC, and a little bit of PS3. SNES, and some PS1/PS2 had a lot of games that was fun, though these days those kind of games are more casual now. The gap between casual and hardcore games these days is too big, wherein casual games you just score high points, finish the level, and move-on, and "hardcore" games are like those AAA titles which are more story-based, long gameplay hours, good graphics and somehow good directing of game scenes. One of the factors that I probably did not consider on explaining this is becoming more mature and/or aging. You probably won't see or experience a AAA title nowadays as a platformer, with just scoring high points every level (sure Mario Bros is still the platformer genre like it was before, but hopefully you know what I mean). To balance it out, I play MMOs.

MMO games are probably in between all of it, plus the social factor. You can play casually or as a hardcore gamer, but at the same time you also get to meet people in-game, though I always doubt that the personality they're showing is who they are in reality.

I don't even know if I answered or explained on-topic lol.

I game because it is a passion of mine.
No, I am not satisfied with the current state of gaming because I feel the majority of games are trying to peddle their wares far too much to casual players. That is absolutely where the money is at these days, but I am hoping the future will offer us some solid AAA titles that aren't deadset on being readily playable by every single person with a PC.

After thinking about it, I appreciate a sense of progression, a social outlet, and/or a rush of some sort (pvp). The first two have been replaced by rapid real life progression, I've been through many changes in the past year or so and I find that gaming can no longer really "match up". I think that ties in with my overall dissatisfaction to the current state of games. I've also been reading a lot more and more often than not, I prefer books to the story content of games. It's a very complicated personal situation for me, but I realized that my personal circumstances have had more to do with my disappointment in games now than the actual games themselves.

I still appreciate pvp. (No more mobas at least for now though. Christmas Break- God help us all.)

i am playing Guild Wars 2 since the beta ... pre start and such the game was not much what i expected but i try to keep expectations on the lowest level because of what we actually get nowadays never match out hype ... in thse 14 or so years of gaming i learned one thing all mmorpgs in the end are the same and when it seems the game has so called HUGE world after sometime you end up doing the same things over and over and over again ...

AM i satisfied with current gaming industry and such? not really atleast not anymore maybe its cuz of these years spent on all action , rpg , rts , tps , mmofps , mmorpg , single player or multiplayer games that i don't find any interesting titles no more or something but when i check new upcoming supposed big shot games like others say they should be ... what i see is only the same mechanics covered with a little bit different make up ...

In the end I play Guild Wars 2 and this game is the only one in a long long time that i decided to stick with and see on how it will evolve ;]

I game to not only have fun but to take a break from real life activities.

I am not satisfied with the gaming market. I look at today's console games and its absolute rubbish. I look at today's PC games and its absolute rubbish. For consoles, I think its not delivering the old school feel of the NES games I grew up playing or even as later as N64! Part of the problem is that many of the consoles are trying too hard to be like the PC because at one time (or maybe still is), the PC was king of games. For PC games, its leaning into 2 different directions I don't like - 1) everything has to be online with multi player. single player games are lacking. because of this, the MMO market is saturated and 2) there is barely any originality in games, and a lot just copy the same design. all we are seeing are clones of each other. I can even go one step further with mobile games with all the "waiting" games where you just click buttons every number of hours. a lot of these games out there along with the "city building" games. absolutely no originality and not fun. these games are detrimental to the gaming business. I am not saying that all games are like this and there are a few gems in each of the gaming market that standout from the rest. There might even be some hidden gems that never sold well or even some indie games that have good concepts but wasn't made with the same quality of commercial games

I game to escape from this crappy world where everything is so uninteresting.

I am very dissapointed with the state of gaming right now. Single player games are boring, the work put into a game now ends up going mostly to the multiplayer, and though I love multiplayer it sucks when the single player falls short. BF3 is a perfect example of this, as with any BF game *nothing beats BF2/BC2* the multiplayer was great, but BF3's single player mode just felt like a chore, when I should have been having fun and wanting to see what happens next I felt like I was having to force myself to keep playing it just to say I got my $60 worth. I still have yet to finish the single player cause its just too boring.

And with MMO's its all just copy paste with the same boring combat system aside from certain games such as Ultima Online and other isometric games the entire click to move/attack combat system is probably one of worste things you could put in your MMO but this is put in 99% of games, this is what kept me from leveling past 10 in Forsaken World. The combat system from WoW/RoM/Aion would be a massive improvement over this click to attack crap. Having C9's combat system in a open world with open PvP such as Aion would be ideal in my opinion. There is also the issue with MMOFPS's being just about the opposite of what I expect, I think of a game where you still have to fight bosses/npcs etc but still can be taken down at any moment by a player hiding 500m away in a bush with a well placed headshot. DayZ is closer to what a real MMOFPS should be in my opinion and its MOFPS which leads me to my next thing. Why is everything with multiplayer called a MMO, MMO is meant for games with persistant worlds/universes with hundreds to thousands of players playing at the same time. But games such as LoL, Combat Arms, AvA, Diablo, Rakion *name any room based game* and its labeled as a MMO. These are not MMO's I do not care what stupid argument you come up with is, its a god damn MORPG, MOFPS, MOBA. We have these classifications for a reason, it is so people can type in the exact style of game they are looking for and hit enter and find it so people need to start using the proper classification for the games they promote.

I have a lot more such as how a game should not be able to call itself F2P if cash shop is nearly required to play such as Runes of Magic and how Freemium games should not put currency and level caps on there free players. If they are going to put a currency cap they should at least do it like fallen earth where you can get some free cash shop money from an offer and buy some random cheap item to unlock your currency cap.

Read my mind. Also, terrible console to PC ports, idiots trying to fight off piracy. Seriously, PC gaming right now is pretty shitty and with more stupid sequels released every years with more dumbed down mechanics each time is getting pretty lame.

I game because there is nothing else to do. I can be productive in a game, virtually within itself, as opposed to RL where its pretty much autopilot and boring.

I don't know why I play games TBH, it just feels better then everything else. Thing is no one is the same in a game and no one shares the same opinion everything is different. Plus I like gamers better then non, IRL people tend to be boring and stubborn, where as a gamer is likely to be a lot more weird and open to try new things.

PSO2, hopefully will be that one to really hit home again. Little wary about the F2P and CS setup though.

Lol thanks for reading. Haven't seen you in a while either.
