Reputation: 134Don't really need to think about that one.
Yup.
Wont you feel guilty
No i woudnt take it. Because i would get depressed if it didnt work out. They spent alot of thier money to get me a education and if i couldnt handle it, it would just be a waste of thier money.
I would rather save up my own money to do it.
Depends, is this their life savings? are they going to have to cut back on food and luxuries? for me it would all depend on how much they had to give up and how they had to live afterwards, as long as it wasn't going to devastate them financially then probably, otherwise if they were going to have to live on beans and other cheap food i would rather go to a local community college.
They are doing very well, but its still a huge sum of money
Reputation: 480Or.. you could just goto a community college for 2 years on grant money, then transfer and save a huge heap of cash. Not like you're going to be doing anything towards your degree in those first years anyways.
Yeah I would. No sense letting pride get in the way of such an amazing opportunity.
Take it.
It's a way to better your own and their quality of life, plus the experience and connections you make during undergrad are irreplaceable.
It's offered to me. Of course I'll take it. If they want to take the risk of spending their money in that manner, then the outcome shouldn't matter. I would definitely try to make it worth the money though.
Reputation: 482Only if you are serious about it and won't dick around in your studies. You owe those people that much at least.
Reputation: 317I prefer paying for stuff myself.
sponsor my studies? does that include dorm, food, books, misc fees? If they'll only sponsor my tuition fee then i probably wont but if they would pay for EVERYTHING i need, then i would.
Given that you are already poor, why miss out on a great opportunity like that?
Failure is not an excuse not to take it because you'll only fail if you won't do your best.
take the opportunity, MAKE it work, and pay them back once you make get a decent job (even if they don't ask you to.. you don't even have to pay the full amount.. just show that you are grateful)
1. Take it.
2. Work really hard and do well
3. Become successful (working hard + a respectable uni should give you plenty of chances of being successful at whatever you are pursuing)
4. Pay them back and thank them for their generosity.
I have to add that, you are able to go to another college/university but it might not be as good as the one overseas
Interesting, lots of you are willing to take it
Reputation: 72take it and make them proud.
study hard and get into honor roll and graduate bare minimum *** laude if not magna *** laude or suma *** laude.
No brainer here. Take advantage of this opportunity to study hard. If you don't, you're a fool.
Reputation: 1151If you are confident you can make their investment money well spent, absolutely. If you have a shadow of doubt in your mind about your ability (mentally, physically, emotionally, etc) probably not.
Going overseas is a wonderful experience that will build character for you and diversify your knowledge of the world. You should take it, work hard and be gracious but also experience all the cool and interesting things that country has to offer.
Obviously your relatives like you enough to do this for you so you shouldn't feel guilty. Just grateful. Make good use of your time and live it up while you're young!
