Default Ragnarok and it's Infamous WOE

I've tried to explain why Ragnarok online was so great and Why WOE has yet to be recreated in another game.

I always think one thing when I think of RO, Diversity.

It seems like the only reasonable explanation for why it was such a great game. No matter what you did, there was almost a huge difference between you and the guy standing next to you.

Because other then that the game seems like a generic game with crazy flashy skills

You should have check my posts on it. I made large lists of things that make RO unique and better than other MMORPGs. :-)

Yeah WOE was fun the only mmo every where I liked PVP and GVG.

Sadly today mmo´s want to be another WoW game >.<

MMO´s today need something new something revolutionary and they need to stop making all games or movies in to a MMO we dont need Elderscrolls online we don´t need family guy online we don´t need Transformers online.

What we need is new ideas something we never seen but works and is fun and gets a good community that is not childish or immature like today community´s.

I think the only game to come close to the sheer craziness of WoE was RF online chip wars.

OP needs to look up the word "infamous". He is obviously misusing it.

dang WoE was the best. I remember I had a priest, my job was just to warp everyone by the entrance, then the guildmaster would shout out to everyone that we're taking a different one, etc etc. Everything was so coordinated. Also remember when I had my crit sin to just wait for the warp/teleport by the guildmaster then haul *** to the emp lol. Ahhh the memories.

creation of god items is pretty damn cool also.
Most new players don't know the amount of time behind it though.

Try NEStalgia then (for Byond). ;-)

Yeah, WoE isn't the only unique feature of RO.

I will tell you one: Random spawn locations. If you kill a monster, it won't just respawn where you killed it, you have to explore the whole map to find it again! Tell me one other MMORPG that managed to pull THAT off.

Ahhh yes. MVP boss hunting was another one. I remember hunting a MVP then using a timer to know when it respawns, and this was when wiki/guides wasn't that popular yet.

Though Mvping was average boss fights, It was different, I remember my first run on Thanatos, by far the longest I've spent on one boss. TBH I the boss fight itself felt like less time then just getting there.

Oh I remember a comment like "The one who owns the entrance wins the fight, Heres where cards come in to play. theres a point where one class can stop all AOEs with beelzebub card and one skill(land protector).

and yes bad use of "infamous"

It's not only bosses and MVPs that have random spawn locations, it's all monsters in RO so even the normal grinding requieres exploration and not just standing on one spot. I think this makes grinding so fun in RO.

And yeah MVP hunting is pretty different from your usually boss hunting in MMORPGs, especially since basically all MVPs easily kill your whole group if someone just makes a single mistake. You need to be VERY concentrated on your task.

Bot the entrance, no. What. Richest, maybe. They don't automatically win though, you still need to have the correct numbers and job composition as well as competent players.

I played some Aion and honestly, the scale and pace of abyss wars have never appealed to me. That's the thing with 3d games, they can be so graphically intense that devs have to lower the number of particles, players participating concurrently, and speed at which skills are being spammed. WoE has none of that. Although it's extremely zergy, that also means if two competent guilds are facing off against each other skills, tactics and discipline come to the forefront, since a few mistakes means your guild being wiped out in mere seconds.

Feyte is right, 3D mmos can't make WOE because it was made for the 2.5D play.

When they figure out how to do something better is when we get a MMO worth anyones time (Looking at you B&S)

No game will be community driven like RO was till we get our expectations out of the gutter.

We didn't go in to RO thinking this will make the next best game.

Every time I play RO I quit almost immediately due to that stupid glitchy feeling movement when you get hit and try to move. Bugs me to no end since it feels and looks like lag.

Diablo the 1st one also suffered from the same systems... Taking Damage Animation is prioritized over Movement.

But it also adds to tactic. Better not get hit, or you're stuck until you die! And you need to attack a monster that attacks your party mate to save him and stuff like that.
