    Neat fact though:

In pay to play scenarios, 100% of the playerbase is supporting continued development/maintenance of the game.

In free to play scenarios, I remember reading something along the lines of a developer/publisher saying only about 10% of the game's population purchases enough to support the game.

Here's an article about free to play apps which are very nearly the same type of market: http://www.wired.com/gamelife/2012/11/meet-the-whales/

TERA had plenty of bots, so does Guild Wars 2, so does WoW. Why do people think otherwise?

Only plays Magic DPS Classes, Healers and Machinist/Engineers.
    Playing MMO: FFXIV (Balmung)
Waiting On: FFXV, KH3, Tree of Savior, RE:FFVII · Saving For: New Computer

TERA and WoW started getting them after trials began.

I'll have to go with janii on this one... F2P or P2P, it doesn't really matter, both of them need to have a playerbase to survive, although F2P needs to be interesting enough to warrant people spending money on the cash shop, and P2P needs to be interesting enough to warrant paying the fee...
But in the end, if the Dev/Publisher isn't good... keeping players will be difficult (unless you're Nexon :v)

p2p players are much much much much much MUCH more serious about their game. If you've ever been in a hardcore guild in WoW or Rift you know what I'm talking about. They see the game as a job that you have to clock into in a timely manner, you have to play for a set amount of time, or until you have finished all objectives for the night, or until your guild leader(boss) tells you you can leave.

You get paid for your job in loot (very occasionally).

Don't know what kind of games you;ve played then, but all the P2P games I've played had a nice and decent mature player base.

PWI Q3 Report: 110M gross revenue for Q3 2012. So July, August and September made them 110M USD total.

Latest WoW subscription numbers I could find (linky) were 10M, so that's 150M USD per month or 450M per quarter (given the playerbase keeps at 10M).

Thus, WoW still makes more money than PWI.

I'm gonna have to call bullshit on this one. I've yet to see a pay to play game that had cosmetics that gave an unfair advantage to those that used the cash shop.

That's not a very good argument for something like this, thats like saying a game is shit because one or two people say its shit.

One day people on this site will learn that a game thrives on how well developed and updated the game is, not the fact that it's p2p or f2p.

As far as I can tell, being f2p matters more now actually, instead of good development. Everybody seemingly just laughed at TERA and never bothered playing it when it came out. Now it's going free to play and it's the hottest game on these forums at least. So apparently it does matter.

imo, p2p players are more loyal than f2p players.

Because it's like a second job to them.

P2P players and F2P players aren't much different in personality, One is honestly less lazy then the other, and that's about it.
When it comes down to it, when a P2P is laid back they'll act like a F2P player

as for me when it comes to f2p vs p2p i tend to try
f2p games first since i really don't like the idea of spending
so much just to enjoy though i am willing to play if the game
is really good and it gives me more than what i expected
