Yes, it's obvious that there are several Illuminati. There might be a 'real' Illuminati, but no where near the capacity that conspiracy theorist like to believe. And there are probably dozens upon dozens of 'knock-off' groups that call themselves Illuminati.

yeah there was a historical Illuminati, but the op was obviously referring to the modern notion of there being an organized secret group of rich people who control everything behind the scenes and whose names no one knows. like in the deus ex games.

Of course there are a bunch of people behind the scenes who control things. They're probably not called "The Illuminati" though. I'm pretty sure if the worlds most powerful people, the ones we shouldnt know about, who are pulling the strings were called the "Illuminati" I don't think any of us would know that in the first place.
