PVP is unbalanced as hell because people actually need to know what they're doing instead of just following a set in stone rotation some theorycrafters came up with to win :P

I'd say it's worth buying, since it's b2p. If gw2 is p2p, it would end up like TERA.

I do hope you realize everything you just said applies to every single MMO ever. I find it absolutely hilarious that GW2 is constantly being given a bad reputation for things that a game like WoW gets praised for.

I find it rather interesting you are accepting the opinions of people who only have negative things to say, but when people say the opposite you default to "no, this other guy told me different!" essentially.

The balance is not perfect no, but it is still being improved upon as is the case with damn near every MMO. Very few if any MMOs have perfect balance, especially not so early in said game's life. It is however not nearly as bad you as seem to be convinced it is..............without any of your own experience with it I might add.

It sounds to me like you already had a preconceived opinion and thus this thread was rather pointless.

I've played GW2 since release, and I have yet to level to level 80 because I'm too busy doing sPVP and tPVP because they're fun as hell. Whenever I get bored, I make up a new and unique build that I go into tPVP with and pwn noobs, so I feel good about myself again.
sPVP is not unbalanced, whoever said that probably just sucked at the game. Your builds really set you apart, but of course there are metas people like to follow which gives them advantage over people who make shitty builds off the top of their heads. Alas, luckily you can defeat meta builds by making a character that destroys a certain meta. Like a death blossom thief to take out guardian bunkers, or a shatter Mesmer to take out bunker elementalists, or a tanky ele to take out a trap ranger who thinks he's the shit on treb...

Plus the game is about teamwork, you go into matches with teammates who compliment you, and the style of play you all enjoy so you can win. There have been dumb teams of 5 thieves that have been crushed, and have owned, all comes down to the players when it gets intense. For example you see Teldo (engineer) own people in 3 v 1s, then you see every other engineer with his exact same build getting owned by well, everyone.

So unbalanced is just completely wrong. They are consistently nerfing and buffing, and they've got to the level where no class at the moment is super powerful (that right, mesmers OP complaints are gone). You may hear people cry about certain skills some classes have (like the mesmer portal) but not everyone rolls with portal, or knows how to roam properly or have the correct build to compliment it, plus it may be their kyptonite class that says hello to at their point while their team is too slow to roam back for support.

That being said, GW2 is a great game.

The PvE was fun and different. After doing events, I never want to normally quest ever again.

The PVP is the greatest ever, most fun I've ever had in any MMO.

WvW is fun and all, but I don't know much because I don't care to level- I do know that PVP jumping puzzles are funny as heck though.

GW 2 is definitely worth a buy, whoever says this game has no pve is seriously just flat out wrong... it has several of instances (with different difficulties and multiple paths) numerous world events, champion lvl boss monsters in some areas and you can lvl your character in any past zone you been too because of the scaling system.

PVP is fun and challenging, there are some class imbalances but its not to the point to which it is unplayable, id say slightly annoying
Now with all of this said GW2 is not a perfect game.

Its blessing and curse is that there is no gear treadmill, At max lvl there's very little character progression past this point.
In most other mmos you have a goal and a since of getting stronger and more powerful but in GW2 this isnt the case. Just about all lvl 80 weapons have the same stats and are easily acquirable. The only real thing to do at 80 is go for legendaries (which take a pretty big chuck of money time and can be very tedious) and even those have the same stats as other 80's they just look cool and give you Epenis.

I really enjoyed GW2 and would still recommend it to my friends but i have to warn them that it is beatable pretty much... In about 4 months of play i got everything i wanted on my main and i got bored and stopped (plus they nerfed my class ~_~)

    2) ive heard that the number of combat skills is too few. this is bad. makes it too boring and predictable.

otherwise than that i think their RvR format is quite good and i like going max level instantly.

edit: having now read the above posts i am again watching and thinking about GW2.
Regarding point 1, I am willing to bet that skill people are telling about is the warrior skill 100 Blades. That skill is only a "I win" button if the person being hit by it is a idiot, it locks the warrior in place because it is multiple strikes and thus requires the target to basically be as stupid as a PVE mob or unable to move because of something like a ranger's entanglement elite. There are so many ways to avoid it that it's pretty pathetic actually, the most simple way being the dodge button.

The other possibility is thief back stab builds, which rely on multiple skills as well as being "all in" in that if they don't kill their target in their initial surprise attack, they either are forced to retreat or die. This tactic usually only works on people who build squishy, and if you happen to see them before the go into stealth it is actually quite predictable, they have to aim at your character's back for it to work.

Point 2 is purely opinion based, personally I like the current amount of skills. Although Elementalists and Engineers actually have quite a few skills in comparison due to how they function, that being elemental attunements and weapon kits respectively.

Ok, look at it this way. If you've played MMOs like Aion or lineage and liked it, you'll hate GW2. Now if you haven't played MMOs at all or played only Ps2 games and such, you're likely to like it. Again personal preference, until you play it yourself, you're likely not to understand.

And it's B2P so you can't complain if you buy it and don't like it. Because that's what we all did in the 1990s.

I like how people use the

    "not enough skills" argument.

You know MMOs are going towards this path right? people don't like to have their screen filled with 1000s of skills anymore.

TESO is going to have a limited hot bar aswell, TERA has a limited bar...

it's not 'not enough skills' it's five ****ing set skills per weapon. that's ridiculous, considering the support skills are all on stupid long cooldowns that hardly do anything outside of passive effects.

I don't really think that the not many skills is a problem. Every mmorpg has like 5-6 skills that you use the most.

"hardly do anything". You must be joking, the utility skills tend to be some of the most important skills you can bring.

And while I can think of plenty of skills that require you to sacrifice passive buffs if you want obtain a active effect, I can't think of many that are purely passive.

I think it is good, but i don't have moeny for it lol.

Obviously it is successful, right? So it is a good game and most people like it. i played it with a friend and let me tell you it is beautiful! the art is INCREDIBLE!

Unfortunately, mmorpgs are always full of haters and loud mouthers spewing garbage and negativity. i don't knwo why they do it tbh my mother always said if you dont have something nice to say dont say anything at all......... >
