Looking for a 2d game that...
...is challenging right off the bat.
I tried Rusty Hearts and DFO but quickly realized that the whole mmorpg nature of mindlessly stupid monsters
that pose no threat really don't work for me in a 2d environment where I wanna be attacking and dodging constantly
with my controller.
I don't really care about the age/graphics just want some excitement!

Yeah as the last guy said, Season 2 of La Tale releases March 28. I wouldn't really consider it challenging right off the bat, you'll get knocked down some and certainly can jump/dodge around. Quite a fun game, worth a try for sure.Originally Posted by slax0

If you preffer a more diablo style game than a more action oriented game, you can try Path of Exile, youll be cursing all the game.

To be honest if you hate mindlessly killing endless number of enemies then you will hate La Tale. With a level cap at 200 and job advancements at 50 and 100, you will spend alot of time mindlessly spamming attacks on weak enemies. This applies to almost every 2D MMO.
MMO in general are not made to be difficult or challenging. I honestly would move your attention to RTS or Action RTS.
