Runescape 2 was before 3D. It was when Runescape Classic ended and it went 2.5D. That was around 2001 or 2002 or earlier, if I'm not mistaking.
Either way.. The world's kids will be happy to see the game get an upgrade. Nowadays, the graphics and look of things is what matters most to them. I'm sure a lot of parents will be happy that their kids will have more of a reason to leave them alone and waste their summers investing butt loads of money on this game. ^^

RS has always been a hate it or love it deal. And i for one am excited for this! Not because it was the best or most graphically stunning game out there, but because I was always able to be sucked into the world. My brother and I would spend buku amounts of time on this.

Runescape has always been my fallback game. If I ever get bored I usually Re-upgrade my membership for a month or two and after that month or two I usually get burnt out. This is the only game I've ever done this with, probably because this is the first MMO I really invested a lot of time into. I remember my days roaming the free worlds and I finally completed all the quests, but I was left wanting more so I begged my parents to get me a membership. Definitely lots of memories within this game. And I personally don't mind a lot of the changes they've made. Jagex made a smart move bringing back Old school along with running servers for the current RS. A lot of people said it was just to make more money but in all honesty Jagex is a company and they're out to make money. However, Jagex is the ONLY company I have ever seen to put up polls and have players vote on content they want in the game. Sounds like a lot of companies need to get with the program. I'm eager to see what RS3 brings to the table.

Okay so why would they make a rs3? Looks like a very bad idea. I think that they wanna implement that new combat system.

They already added a new combat system, half their players hated it and wanted it removed, in an attempt to please them Jagex released "Old School Runescape" a version of the game as it was sometime in 2007, it's members only.
This video makes it seem like it's not RS3 they're releaseing, just a graphical update. They even say at one point you'll still be able to use the java client, I think this is a dumb idea, not one person plays runescape because they like the graphics, this update isn't going to change that.
It's all bullshit folks, it's all bullshit and it's bad for ya!

EoC still has the majority of the playerbase. If they actually removed some servers they would be just as populated as the old school ones. Why jagex has refused to do this is beyond me.

The "oldschool runescape" that people can currently play is RS2. Runescape classic was the original back in 99-01.

I am liking the current starting tutorial (new for me since its been awhile from the last time i played) Combat system is mehhh not bad but not my fave. Still going to put more time into it though. And to the guy who says no one plays rs for the graphics... hey,guy... I like them
