    Default Normal Conversation

while lying on my bed being alone and sick and too lazy to food
I realized how I suck with normal conversation.. like if someone asked me something, I tend to over think stuff and most of the time ended up not responding at all (like WTF) which is pathetic.
I feel comfortable behind boards over chat boxes.. having the freedom to reply or not to reply without complications.

You can only get better with practice.

I started working retail when I was a teen and that is how I picked up on it better.
I had to adapt to people with various personalities.
We would even get a lot of foreigners so I had to learn their slang.
I didn't really enjoy the job but it did teach me how to read people and be persuasive.
If you feel uncomfortable being yourself then put on a mask (not literally).
Just create multiple fake personas and use each individual one for which suits the situation best.
Makes it much easier to deal with people.

I suck at conversation, as well. I try to avoid talking with my mic when I can, while playing games. In the real world, I just choose not to speak sometimes. Then when people ask me, "Oh come on, you can talk can't you?" I look at them and tell them politely, "Yes, I can. But I choose/Don't not to." And usually get the god damned hint and shut up. But some times they're *** holes about it

I feel you. I'm the same in a way. I'm so used to talking to women that I kinda forgot how to talk to guys. Like I can easily hold a conversation with a female, but when it comes to guys I don't really know what to say. I guess its why most of my friends to date are women and ive only had 1 new guy friend since my freshman year of college, and hes my barber lol.

The trick is finding people with common interests, if you are polar opposites than yeh awkward silence is going to be very common. The more you and the person/people have in common the more ice breakers you have to work with.

uhm..I think I led this thread to confusion.. RL convo isn't the real problem (just a tini-weeny-bit though)
I get the idea of masking-on* in terms of RL stuff.. plus the pressure of being on-the-spot helps to find that quick fix (fillers :P)
I was talking about internet-convo.. hence I will quote myself:

this is where the problem starts. It's hard having normal convo with people that I have common interest w/
normal in-terms of what they are doing, and so on.. just really normal*
    yknow how normal persons talk.

look at it this way. you could make a living as a brilliant games reporter and lock yourself with your pc all day and just eat pizza and soda. but doing that you will die of some really bad health thingy. so like skills is not just about working, but having a rounded life and fitting into society. some people never fit well. many people have to work at those life skills.

    People like to conform.

Just act as if you where normal.
Get the other person to reciproce.
Ask them to conform to this concept verbally.
    Do it too.

    Instantly solved problem.

There is no normal -> you make your own normal.
