Default Best MMORPGs on the Market "Today" (MMOHut Nomination Thread)

    What's up people?

Management is cracking the whip on JamesBl0nde to do an updated best F2P MMORPG list on MMOHut and we wanted to check in with our community prior to get a general consensus as James is still relatively new (compared to most of you) to the MMORPG scene and I'm insanely biased and seem to like more obscure outliers.

So feel free to nominate games you feel deserve to be on this list and we'll be sure to give them a closer look and consideration for the video.

Well, I'd say Eden Eternal was one of the more memorable games I had played in these past years.

Then there's also Path of Exile, but it was kinda repeatitive towards the end and it was more of a one-time playthrough (a pretty fun one 'tho) for me. ;/

Ya. Obsolete retail games with a playerbase of 5 to 100 people who hang-out on IRC each day are da best. But my all-time favorite games... Are the ones that I've spent the most time & money on.

Does Phantasy Star Online 2 with an english patch count? If so, that takes the cake for me. I have to say though, the first MMORPG that implements Oculus Rift, that will be the top MMO just for the visuals alone.

Planetside 2. It's the only true MMOFPS out there now - that's what makes it so awesome.
    Oh wait, MMORPG?
    ...I don't know. I haven't played an MMORPG in ages. x_x

Is LOTRO still relevant today? I only mention it since it was one of the most successful P2P to F2P transitions I know of.

Last year was a stale year for games (not just MMOs).

You mean the 4x60$ payment for the base games and monthly payment of 15 dollars? In my book it makes sense that if company makes money enough money it can provide players with additional content.

I'd play PSO2 over Vindictus anyday, because I'm IP-Blocked from both the KR and NA servers. @@

But in all honesty, PSO2 isn't as bad as you make it out to be. It still gave me months of enjoyment for the times I've got on to explore the new content. Are you sure it isn't you being biased &/ having an overly high expectation for it?

    --
Gunbound also used to be good. But, eh...

If we do get to pick out "non-English-localized" MMOs, I'd nominate Monster Hunter Frontier as well.

I don't think so. Because I love Phantasy Star, I think I would be more likely to go fanboy and tell you that it's good.

I think the fact that I can tell you how horrible it is despite being a fan should actually give me more credibility. There is really nothing SEGA did right with the game.

But yeah, it's easy to bot on. Every game is, lol.
Champions of Regnum has zero botting.
They have 100% proofed the game against it for some yrs now.

You can't "bot proof" a game... probably nobody gives enough of a crap about that horrible game to bot it. lol.

That's not accurate o.0 Back when I played, people were using macro programs to AFK grind overnight.

I have a tendency to try games out for a while and then move on to try something else. Some games stick in my mind though, as games I'll go back to.

Ragnarok 2 (nice crafting. nice drops.)
Vindictus (great for some high speed action and automated group finder. decent crafting and market system. fishing is cool. not cash shop dependent.)
Requiem (an underrated game that offers a lot to players. has a cult following.)
    Mortal Online (a good sandbox)
Tera Online (a nice, complete f2p game. another good action game.)
Atlantica Online (it's a very different fighting system, has a pretty goo community and good crafting.)
Star Trek Online (it's nice to play a Star Trek race, have my own customizable ship, go into ship battles or beam down to planets and quest there.)

    Playing this week:
Star Wars: the Old Republic (it feels like i can't take a whiz indoors without a subscription, but even what they provide a free player is pretty cool)

Because it's tough seeing all your friends quit.
My teams in Guild Wars 2 (we practice 2-6 hours every day) lasted an average of three weeks. Repeat seven times...

Ya these were excellently designed at the time.
