Default do you like tactical rpgs?

I've never given them much of a try. I'm very turned off by the grid you're locked into in many of them, exploring is a large part of my enjoyment in RPGs.

As a wheeler and dealer in the collectable game world, I can't help but notice the huge following for some of the leaders of the genre (evident through ridiculously high demand). I can't help feel there's something I'm missing.

Yeah, but I really like Disgaea over the other 'balanced' srpgs. You grind to crazyness, you get super powered, then you try to fight the big boss and you get roflstomped, then you grind some more and poop on his face, then you start trying to max stuff by grinding more.

First run through usually is pretty balanced, but then it's more about what you have instead of how you play, but it turns out I really enjoy that for some reason.

I agree Its always how you play the game that makes it more exciting

Disgaea is rad. both for the combat and for the really funny story. people never bothered to tell me this, but you don't have to bother with any of the insane grindy power gaming stuff that the game lets you do in order to finish the main game. it's only if you want to get the postgame content (which admittedly there is a ton of, and it's very awesome) that you need to do any of that stuff. what I mean is, don't stress too much about powerlevelling characters and items yr first time through the game. just have fun.

Blah. Disgaea 3 was free on PS+ for my Vita. Since I have literally nothing to lose by downloading it (except maybe 15 minutes of time while I wait) maybe I'll start with that then.

I kinda like not being into these games though...this way, if I find a particularly rare one at a sale I can trade it for a bunch of other stuff that I want instead of hoarding it
