Desktop PC build, Raedon 7950 or gtx 660ti?

Probably going to change win 8 to win 7. Might downgrade the case to pick up an SSD to boot windows on.

Aside from that, I'm just stuck on what gpu to get. I had an AMD gpu before (on my laptop, 6750m) and it was a pain in the ass to get it to work sometimes and other times it would overheat. Last nvidia card I had was like from 2003 on a dell desktop and it didn't give me too many problems.

I was over by the tigerdirect in my area and the sales rep was recommending a gtx 650 ti boost for similar performance to a gtx 660 and being cheaper over all but I'm on the fritz about it. Heard the sapphire raedon 7950 cards had overheating issues and that's the last thing I want :/

Anyways; my laptop's mobo burnt out so I'll probably buying the parts in 1-2 days from the local retailer here. Budget is $1k.

How long should I wait? Because I literally have no other computer aside from a toshibia satellite laptop that I fixed using a knife, duct tape, and gum...

Depends. I know the GTX760Ti will probably be released in august. Most of the AMD-cards should also be released this quarter.

This isn't going to be a big jump in performance for nVidia but rather a small one. So it's up to you.

Ah alright; I'm not all that much of an fps junkie. So long as I can either maintain a 40+ fps on near max settings I'm good. Btw can you build me a rig? The pcparts I linked were something recommended to me by someone else. Not sure if it's the best build or anything but it is quite costly :s

I'll be heading out to the nearby retailer stores later today and checking out some more hardware before I start buying things. Hopefully E3 will cause a price drop on the vita so I can get that + soul sacrifice as well.

That looks pretty good. I don't think there's going to be much to be saved on if you want the newer Intel CPUs.

I came back from the store and I'm thinking of ditching the amd card in favor of the geforce 660ti... or the 770 but I don't know if my wallet can take the hit >__<
