Default Where did all the rpgs go?

    Hello,

I enjoy games like Morrwind, Two worlds II and the other rpgs where you run around and venture trough a nice world. And can do whatever you want to do.

However I cannot find games like this anymore, the last one was Kingdom of Amalur or something like that. That was all, besides that there's nothing......

So where did all these games go? Where are they going and will they come back? I can't understand RPG gamers don't complain about this.

I also prefer RPG's over anything else. You won't find many open world RPG's similar to the Elder Scrolls series. They didn't really go anywhere and were a rare find to begin with. Check out Arx Fatalis, Divine Divinity, Beyond Divinity, Divinity 2, Gothic 2, Gothic 3 and Arcania if you want something similar.

It's sad, we get like 15 shooters a year, but only 1 of 2 rgps. :'(

RPGs take a very long time to develop due to more detail and depth going into them than shooters usually do or care to do. Optional side-quests, bosses, etc. take even longer, some even having their own whole voice actor and cutscenes.

I'm more into JRPGs in comparison to Elder Scrolls series, Fallout, etc. Because Western leveling / etc. is just not for me. Even FF13 put me off, because the game was trying to incorporate western leveling / etc.

Only plays Magic DPS Classes, Healers and Machinist/Engineers.
    Playing MMO: FFXIV (Balmung)
Waiting On: FFXV, KH3, Tree of Savior, RE:FFVII · Saving For: New Computer

Only problem I have with JRPG's I have is that they are almost only exclusive for console. While I am a pc gamer I cannot really apreciate that. I hate it that I can't play the tales series, but well I just can't and I do not feel like buying a xbox one or playstation 4 that's gonna set me back a lot of money.

saying "where did they go", implies that at one point there were a ton of 3d open world rpgs being released. this was never the case. in fact, they're more popular now than they ever have been before.
