Has anyone played the Monster Hunter Franchise? I read that in Monster Hunter Online one has to sharpen his/her weapon during combats. Will that be very troublesome and disturbing?

Reputation: 30looks like troll post to me but oh well ill bite. yes, u do sharpen your weaps in midlle of combat if it goes dull fighting boss. there are quate a few mechanics in MH francise that casual rpg/mmorpg player never seen, and most liklly gona go cry in game forums that game is too HARD for them once they get to play. i just hope devs arent stupid and dont go wow road "Lets nerf stuff that noobs could play it too"
Reputation: 344Had no problems in the first Monster Hunter MMO that was never released in English... Let's just hope this one makes it out of Asia.
I think the game may come to the west according to the news:http://mmogamecentral.com/tecent-gam...hunter-online/
Reputation: 482Not gonna lie, I always hated having to sharpen my weapon in MH because it just seems like the sharpness wears down really fast, especially with certain weapons. While you can fight with a dull blade, it'll take more hits to do the same amount of damage you can do with a fully sharp blade. It's kinda like the game puts a debuff on your weapons after a set number of hits, but it's meant to emphasize on the fact that you are supposed to be taking down monsters in the most efficient way, instead of just hacking and slashing them to death. It does make you learn when and where to strike though which I do like.
Like it or not though, it's really only a minor thing that affects how hard the game is. One of the biggest things that makes the game hard is how well you prepare for your hunts and how much you know about your target. Lack of information about the enemy AI can get you killed really quick, especially if you are hunting solo.
It really doesn't make that much of a difference til you get to higher tier gear when you absolutely have to have your weapon in top shape, in all honesty though it's only an issue if you decide to solo everything, in a group setting its fairly easy to have a few people keep the monster's attention while the others sharpen their weapons
Sharpening takes less than 5 seconds, and can be reduced to about a second or so.
It's not the end of the world.
