should really read the patch notes then, rather than saying useless stuff.
they put in a new system.

New free hero system: Eternity Splinters
Eternity Splinters are a new system introduced with this patch for Marvel Heroes. Eternity Splinters replace hero token drops and offer players a chance to earn every hero in any order they wish, simply by playing the game. Adam Warlock sells all heroes for Eternity Splinters along with a few other items. He can be found beside Gambit in all three of the social hubs.

Eternity Splinters drop from all enemies throughout the game. Their drop rate is influenced by your Special Item Find bonus. The rate of drop is tuned to make Marvel Heroes slightly faster than other free-to-play games in terms of getting free heroes, as we continue to work towards the goal of being the most player-focused game possible. We will continue to evaluate and iterate until we are 100% satisfied that we are meeting that goal.
We intend to add many things to the Eternity Splinter vendor and anticipate future polls and player discussion about items they would like to see.

For those players who still have old Cosmic Keys, they have been converted in your inventory and S.T.A.S.H. on a 1-1 basis for Eternity Splinters. Not many players purchased Cosmic Keys (almost all of them are from drops), but if you purchased a Cosmic Key from the in-game store up to 7 days previous to their removal from the game on July 2nd, and that key has not been used, we will refund the Gs you used to purchase it.
Adam Warlock sells a random hero box that could contain any hero. You can theoretically get a hero you already own from this box, in which case it can be used to upgrade your Ultimate Power.

    Do shards drop often?
I tried the game but got really bored playing a character I didn't like.
Might hop back on if they made obtaining new characters easier!

    So, ~80 hours ?
Many games I pay for I don't put in that many hours.

Are the shards and/or heroes transferrable between other players?

depends on what you find unlucky. I unlocked spiderman and he's completely geared with lvl10-12 epic items. If I can just farm the other items I need, I can make them even further then epic.

Did they fix the performance at least a bit ? I saw something about performance in the notes but they don't exactly explain what.Last time I checked the game was when it opened to the public and it was horrible in the performance field.Lagged and sound errors all the way even though I cover what the game needs.

There are more graphics options now. Lag in large groups has been lowered. Lag on open maps is virtually non-existent now. Still random lag at the crafter though... which is strange.

I'm one of the initial haters, but I will give it a shot once again, since quite some time passed since I last played this. Hopefully I can now get Iron Man, for my Heartbreaker costume to be usable.

I really hope this game has improved, I'm a huge DC fan, but I also like Marvel and so far, gaming wise, Marvel got nothing on DC, unfortunately.

    400/5 = 80.

this is with your luck since someone else got the same, but in 3 hours.

It's not a bad game, but forced heroes and no way to make your own like DCUO, City of Heroes, Champions Online, is a little stupid. I played for about an hour, I assume purple is a rare item, because I got one. Also, I could only choose one melee char from the get go, so I had to choose The Thing.
Were you not able to pick Dare Devil?

I could've, but it didn't really mention him as melee.

I tried it out and it's not that bad, but not something I would continue playing for a hours. I still think they should have gone the DCUO route; I really prefer the Marvel Universe and would have switched in an instant.

Well, if you remember, "Champions Online" was supposed to be Marvel Universe Online, but Marvel said no to it, and now we have this semi-awful game.
