What if the world we live in is nothing but a computer program. Like the matrix. And the odd things people see is nothing but a glitch in the program. Your thoughts on this ?

I think you are talking about Matrix and the idea comes from Matrix.
Matrix.
I've been thinking too. What if the Earth is all just a big reality show that aliens watch? I've thought long and hard to come up with this mind blowing, original theory. Thoughts?

Reputation: 629I sometimes think that this is just a big game of The Sims. Then I hit my toe on a door and realise no game designer could ever be that evil.

We could be in an infinite loop - imagine, when we have the technology (if we actually get to that point) wouldn't we want a simulation as accurate as possible to see how history unfolded? So we'd build a fake planet, and let the program run...until it got to the point where it built its own program and so and and so on.
It'd account for the mysteries of the universe. Dark matter would be completely explained, no?

Theres that. Makes sense when you think about it. Then the discussion becomes - do our lives mean any less because we're only a computer simulation? Are your feelings warranted? Is the happiness or sadness real? What is real? We see it, feel it, hear it, smell it, taste it and hear it. On the flipside, at what point does that make characters in video games real? They interact with their environment same as us...they don't know when we power off our PC or console. Would we know?
