    Default Need help with Runescape

Hey guys I need a little help. I started playing RuneScape 3 for the first time (never played RuneScape before) and I'm actually liking it. But the problem is that I am lost. I don't have an Idea what I have to do. I tried doing quests, but I don't know, I just can't understand it. Can someone explain me the basics and such? And should I sub to it?

Well, the tutorial in this time is bland and expects you know what you're doing unlike the older Runescape where they taught you a little of everything on beginner island. I would advise looking at a guide on Sal's Realm or somewhere familiar.
    Games I currently play:

    Cosmic League
    Minecraft
    Warframe
    Lost Saga

Waiting for: Overwatch, Maplestory 2, and Rakion 2.

Ok thanks, will read the info in the site now . Anyway what is your opinion on the new RS3? Because this is my second day of playing it and I always read hate comments how it's ruined etc.? Is it really ruined and should I return to WoW and not play RS?

    No, continue to play RS3.
They are just being douchebags and dumb.
RS3 is a really nice change to the game. I, myself, am still a subscriber to the game.
If you really enjoy this game, definitely sub to it because it will open many more new skills up yo you.

And plus, the community is huge.
If you happen to find yourself a clan of friendly people.
your in for a real treat.

    Pretty much this.

People complained about how the game has changed ever since the evolution of combat which makes it so you no longer have to just sit there and watch your character hack in slash. If you want to do things properly, you will have to utilize your abilities. That said, I also recommend subscribing if you like the game. I've been part of an active clan for nearly half a year that will gladly take you in.

If you've never played it before, I would say go for it, you'll enjoy it.

People like myself and Sharki3ait who have played it for 10 years have seen it change so much. It isn't what it used to be anymore, which is what we first signed up for, so it doesn't appeal to us anymore. However if you're signing up now, you'll enjoy it as it is.

One thing to say though, you had better enjoy grinding for days on end. The whole game is a grind if you want to get high skills. The economy is also kind of broken too. There are some items, you will never be able to afford if you start playing now and don't cheat or gamble.

Yeah. It's not like traditional MMOs where you quest/grind/instance or whatever
It's 100% grind. And the grind is far from enjoyable (that's why 60% of the community are bots)
Like training woodcutting, you click on trees over and over.
Training combat, click on enemies over and over (and now press some numbers over and over)
training fishing, click on the water over and over.
For all the skills. The only one that's enjoyable is dungeoneering to me. But even that becomes a grind.
The economy is extremely broken like Rap said. Because of an update that changed the game two years ago or something, now you can't make money unless you already had money prior to that update. I mean you can make money, but if you want the best stuff, you won't get it unless you cheat/gamble. (but don't do that).
The community is extremely childish and selfish, don't trust anyone. EVERYBODY will be out to get you and your money.

Another thing to add .. if you don't plan on subscribing just quit now and don't waste your time. The game is pretty locked without a sub and the stuff that's unlocked for f2p players is VERY limited.Even Swtors model is better lol

It seems like alot of people hate it for the grind but the game is only as grindy as you want it to be.

If you're playing Runescape to get all skills to 99 then you're going to get very bored eventually from all the mindless clicking. If you're playing it for the quests/storyline and PVM/PVP then you're in for a good experience.

In my opinion Runescape has the most enjoyable quests of all MMORPG's. No generic quests like "go from A to B" "kill X mobs" "collect X items". They have a real storyline which explain the lore very well. Quests also unlock content like new area's, prayers, complete sets of magic spells, gear etc. I have beat almost all the quests in the game and my non combat skills are fairly low at about 50-70. Most of my skills recieved a good chunk of XP through quests experience rewards and i never had to focus on a skill for more than a few days so it didn't even feel like a grind.

The quests are far from unique. They are the exact opposite of what ftw has said.
The fact that you use the one of the oldest and easiest quests as a prime example of RS's questing shows that you want to make it took bad. Even then, that quest is still more complex than the generic quests that most mmorpg's still use. I don't get how you can say RS's quests aren't unique when there are no other MMORPG's which have that kind of quest system.

Heres a list of all quest skill requirements in the game and as you can see most quests can be done with fairly low skills and almost all of them with level 50-70 skills.

If the quests are "EXTREMELY bad" then name some games with a better quest system? (except for GW2 and Mabinogi)

These are the requirements for a very old quest that's around mid-game now. Those skills will take you months and months to get at the rate of a new player.
Those are the requirements for While Guthix Sleeps which is still one of the hardest quests in the game. A new player will not have to aim for these requirements straight away because it's end game content and again, the skill requirements for that quest aren't that high and by the time you attempt that quest you will be close to those levels anyway. For example, 1-65 herblore can be done in a few hours.

    Welcome to MMORPG's.

Atleast you can easily afk in RS with Momentum.

Try challanging bosses like Nex? Not everyone has a maxed character with overloads, scrimshaws etc. I had loads of fun on Coin Share servers at God Wars Dungeon with my clan (crashing other clans and starting wars ). RS keeps getting updated so there will definitely be more challenging bosses even for maxed players.

Fun is objective. I had a lot of fun while playing RS and i'm sure you did too or else you wouldn't have a maxed character. Even if you didn't it doesn't mean others can't have fun playing RS.

It seems more like you hate RS because you wasted too much time on it (because it's so bad ) so now you bash the game to scare off potential new players and hurt the company that made it.

You can get 50-70 in most skills within a month if you play several hours a day. Shit's easy now, don't let this kid make you think it isnt. 70-99 is the real grind. And i mean you can get ALL skills to at least 50 in a month with 4-8 hours of gameplay a day.

Whats gonna be the point of getting them to 99 when if he plays for free mostly everything will be locked. He can't even have all the skills.
The game is NOT WORTH THE TIME ANYMORE.Stop trying to convince him in something that's not true.
