I like being alone and being with friends equally. I hate being with people I don't know well.

I'm alone a good 80% of the time and I absolutely love it. I don't have to worry about expending energy to do stuff and I can just chill at home doing whatever I want. I do like a little interaction once in a while but I get bored very quick. I also like going to crowded places like county fairs, festivals, shopping malls, etc... once in a while.

I get along fine with just about everyone, have no problems meeting new people and can hold conversations, but I really do not like to be around people. I'm fine with a few friends or a lady friend but I've always hated large gatherings of people. It just kinda feels like a clash of perceptions and expectations just lingering around in the air that are created by the society we live in most of the time. In settings were I've had to speak in front of people I could do just fine because I was there to express something, usually my own thoughts, to a group and/or discuss and exchange opinions. I've always liked to really communicate with people and when there's an interesting topic going around with a lot of peoples view's on it, that is just the best.

But that is not what most people do in regular social settings. All too often you have the people who kind of "hog the conversation", as people say, so everyone can listen to their singular experiences. I really dislike the constant focus on a single person in a group as much as the constant "power struggle" there sometimes seems to be between the people who want to be in the spot light. You have some people though who can just kinda sit down and really just chat with about nothing and it's entertaining at the least, but a lot of times those people vying for attention just are not the type and it kinda of just bores me and I zone out.

In a way, that's why I really like internet forums: apart from the rules you have to follow in order to help maintain topics to be on point, you generally get a more honest opinion and it's a lot harder to be the center of attention in a group of people looking for actual conversations. You can't sit there and talk really loud trying to make sure people overhear how funny you are, or how insightful you are because of the all the anecdotal and stereotypical comments you make. IRL, people tend to lend a deaf ear to people like that out of the fear of being rude to the person, but on the internet none of that is necessary as you can ignore a person like that much more easily and there isn't the same expectations of enduring conversations you'd rather not hear on behalf of someone's feelings. That is one thing I will say that you guys have taught me and I now apply a lot more often, even in polite ways IRL.

All in all though, I don't mind being alone, I don't mind being with people. It's just when I'm alone I can really focus on things that interest me instead feeling like I'm forced to based on what others expect.
