Reputation: 34Well I would like to see a SAO like game.I mean the skill system was just...amazing.You could master everything from crafting to fishing with no limits. No BS points system no.If you want to be a archer, warrior, cook, fisher, miner thing you could go ahead and do it.Perma death?Well that would be interesting...somewhat.But more than likely wouldn't happen.
The ideas that SAO has are something I would like to see be PROPERLY introduced into a game but knowing how most game developers function...it would just get ruined...take RO2 for example. They had the ****ing blueprint (RO1) but still managed to screw it up. >.>'
Reputation: 10If I recall correctly, Kirito's fast reaction was more from his experience in playing so many VRMMORPGs, as opposed to his kendo experience. He only did 2 years of kendo. Also, when he sparred with Suguha, she laughed at his initial stance because it was so different from the kendo stance she was used to. His stance ended up being something he refined and molded from all his experience.
That's not to say that his kendo contributed nothing to his reaction, but I also wouldn't hype it up as much as you did.
But Suguha, on the other hand.. her ability was 100% kendo.
On a side note, I think the main thing for a real SAO VRMMORPG would be the weapon skills. That was the initial selling point of the game (in the LN/anime), that made others want to play and such.
Reputation: 10thisI think SAO is trash, and if there was a game it would attract all the 14 year olds and tards to it.
Stray faaaaaaaaar away
and anime is also trash, suitable for kid, teens, weaboos with some insecurity problems.

SAO & attack on titan are really great anime shows, but yeah I think no one could pull off a good MMO out of them.

Reputation: 52I never got around to even finishing one full series, w/o missing a few episodes. (TV version)
They just went off course like it was planned from the beginning

I guess Wizardry Online gets closest for now.
Coding something like Sword Art Online is quite possible, however, I've yet to see someone trying to make a game out of an imaginary game in a movie that is actually remotely well implemented (just think of all those games from Wreck-It Ralph).
Also I don't think constructing towns fits to SAO. The towns should be fixed, however the occupation should be variable and crafting 100% player driven.
