.Hack// was a better anime in almost every regard, not to mention had the idea before SAO of an MMORPG which kills people. It also had a better story line that was less contrived and stupid, more likable characters (at least the seasons outside of legend of the twilight) and actually has some traction in the western countries on a more mainstream stage.
Admittedly the Occulous Rift could give the immersion aspect, but even single player games in regards to that are far in coming, having to completely change how they're developed from the GUI to the controls. That being said EVE: Valkyrie is going to be using the Occulous Rift to help improve immersion when the system is released to the general public. Hawk3n also will be using the Occulous Rift for immersion after release.
I think the Occulous is going to be about the price of an Ouya (about 100$), so its impact on the gaming market will most likely be fairly large, being accessible to a very large user base. The idea of more MMOs using the system (other than Valkyrie and Hawken) wouldn't be completely out of the question, but certainly wouldn't be any time soon.
Edit: The Developers Kit is 300.00 USD, which boads well for the general consumers price point as the developers kits come with development software to make games work with the system, as well as being Beta products. - https://www.oculusvr.com/order/
