If you prefer story over gameplay and content, you should go with Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn.

Only plays Magic DPS Classes, Healers and Machinist/Engineers.
    Playing MMO: FFXIV (Balmung)
Waiting On: FFXV, KH3, Tree of Savior, RE:FFVII · Saving For: New Computer

Don't know about you guys, but I skip most of the dialogue in FFXIV. Unlike SWTOR where I enjoyed the cutscenes.

The biggest thing I liked in FFXIV, was the story. Not just the bog-standard dialog in cutscenes, but the instanced solo battles blew my mind when I encountered them. They really pulled me in. Considering, I have never seen such before in an MMORPG.

    DCUO, and EvE

Only ones I'd even consider spending a dime on, right now.

I'm waiting for Wildstar(Only recently), B&S and just maybe black desert. I don't like how most games are getting rid of Holy trinity though.

No, FFXIV is not the best.

EVE if you like Sci-fi. WoW if you're looking for the standard fantasy MMO. FFXIV if you're a fan of Final Fantasy.

If you want Buy-to-plays, get Guild Wars 2, as it's a blast. If you want a modern-setting game with darker themes, The Secret World. If you want a third-person shooter sci-fi, Defiance.

Other than that, you can try any of the many f2p games, and they'll usually offer a premium-account which is usually $6-15 a month. Age of Wushu/Wulin I liked. Can't think of any others off the top of my head. Maybe Star Wars: The Old Republic would be worth it if you are a fan of Star Wars.

Personally, I've got two accounts subbed for EVE at the moment. WoW would get boring for me after a few days so I'd rather spend my time in one of the many free-to-play games that are similar to WoW (EQ2, LOTRO, Vanguard, any of the many "WoW-clones"... maybe consider Allods as it just got a pay-to-play server recently). FFXIV went thru a process that I find to be similar to the NGE in Star Wars Galaxies... it got changed to be more similar to WoW because that's a more popular style of game.

Guild Wars 2 is neat, but I can't stick with it to long unfortunately. Mostly because they make playing with your friends a *****, despite making it easy at the same time. You can guest on other servers easily, but it's not possible (as far as I've been able to tell) to make a character on your friends server. Once you choose a server you're stuck with it unless you want to pay $20-30.

The Secret World was a pretty awesome game. It was incredibly atmospheric and I really enjoyed the way they handled their skill/class system. Here's a video showing a bit of what I mean and here's another one.

Defiance was OK, but I didn't stick with it. I enjoyed the combat, and the world was interesting. But I just can't get into it by myself. I would need a group of people to play with to enjoy the game and I don't feel like doing that at the moment. I got it on sale for like $3 tho so I couldn't pass it up.

Age of Wushu was an amazing gaming experience. The game had/has so much potential and it had so many great features. I got so immersed into the game while playing, and I've only experienced that level of immersion a few times previous (SWG, Mortal Online, Darkfall, Wurm Online). However, Snail didn't do a great job making the game playable and there always seemed to be some major issues dampening my experience. I even wrote an article for OnRPG about some of the stuff (not all of it, tho) that I experienced while playing. There were two major occurrences that made me quit the game - Once when a GM logged into my account right in the middle of a guild war (which happens at the same time every single day), without even contacting me first so I thought my account had been hacked. And two, when my alt account that I used to use to play Blue Dragon server was actually hacked in stripped of over $40-50 worth of gold/money and Snail told me to F off and it was my fault so they wouldn't help me.

In short, the customer service at Snail USA was non-existent and that really affected my will to want to play. However, Age of Wulin (run by gPotato) might be better. Most of the people I know (including my whole guild) moved to Age of Wulin because of the issues on Wushu, and everyone who stayed on Wushu has now quit the game.

Gah that crap makes me so mad.
