Default Lenovo y410p budget gaming laptop

    http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops...-series/y410p/

    4th Generation Intel Core i7-4700MQ Processor (2.40GHz 1600MHz 6M Operating system Windows 8 64 Display14.0" HD+ Glossy LED Backlit with integrated camera 1600x900 Graphics NVIDIA GeForce GT755M GDDR5 2GB - Memory 8.0GB PC3-12800 DDR3L SDRAM 1600 MHz - Hard Drive 1TB 5400 RPM - Optical Drive DVD Recordable (Dual Layer) - Network Card Intel Centrino Wireless N-2230 - Bluetooth Bluetooth Version 4.0 - Warranty One year - Pointing device Industry Standard Multi-touch 2 button touchpad - Battery6 Cell Lithium-Io

Here is the specs for the model I am thinking about. The cheapest one is about $750.

Is $70 worth it for a slighty better video card. (750m gt vs 755m gt) and better display?

Would this be a good budget gaming laptop?

Screen, absolutely. GPU not so very much. I'd do it.

It's good enough for its price. Lenovo is one of the lesser known brands although they produce good laptops. You should be fine with it.

GPU can be SLI'd via Ultrabay.

Lenovo is a pretty decent brand. I own a Y400 SLI myself and I haven't really found anything that it cannot play at decent settings.

Lenovo is a pretty decent brand. I own a Y500 750 SLI myself and I haven't really found anything that it cannot play at decent settings.

Sorry, I meant Y400. I have it SLI'd with the 750M4 from Taobao. I've had it since March of this year. If you were considering getting the Y500 I would suggest it because you can just buy it straight out as a SLI or get them cheaply through Ebay. I'm actually thinking about selling the Y400 and getting the Y510.

I am heavily considering the y410p's because it is 14 inch compared to the 15.6 inch on the Y500's. Just want 14 inches for better portability purposes.

If you're going to use any bag to carry your laptop in, the 1.6 inch extra is not going to make any difference whatsoever. This includes desks as well.

Like play games on High-Ultra for four years or just running basic programs and interneting? This definitely won't play games on High in four years. I would probably say that they'll play them on Mid to Mid/High mix depending on how fast we progress, but I should mention that if you want a "gaming machine" that will last you for four years at a time than you should probably go with a console. Even a desktop is going to need an upgrade in that period of time.

If you want to go with a laptop that is upgradable I would suggest moving to a TOTL 780M laptop. You'll be able to upgrade most TOTL laptops unless the next generation of mobile graphic's cards uses MXM 4.0 instead of 3.0.

TOTL = Top Of The Line (Sager, Clevo, Alienware, MSI, ETC)
