You're allergic to trees? Have you ever been outside? It's an extremely dangerous place.
If your cat is being a PITA than I suggest grabbing some lemon juice (or anything with lemon) and spraying the tree. I actually sprinkle lemon pepper under the tree because my cat hates pepper more than she hates lemon.

And I'm not super allergic. We found out because I always got sick around Xmas with a scratchy throat and sneezes. It's an accumulative thing too. I can visit family with real trees. I can sit under pine trees all day. But being confined indoors with it makes me sick after a while.

You know hundreds of cats die each year from Christmas tree related accidents. Choking on small ornaments, getting choked by wires/strands/garlands, electrocuted by lights.
