Greetings MMOHut and ONRPG forumites, its time again for the occasional promotion of WWIIOL: Battleground Europe.most of you have already played it, but maybe there are some new folks that haven't.
the official 2013 trailer
World War II Online: Battleground Europe has been around since 2001 and is one of the first massive multiplayer shooter games ever created. a single instance server 300,000 square kilometers in size, with a capacity of 10,000 players with 196 player visibility. Infantry, tanks, aircraft, and navy all exist together.
WWIIOL is a subscription based game with a cost of $17.99/month, but has a free-to-play feature replacing the old 2 week free trial. Free-to-play limits the equipment available, but has unlimited time. Free-to-play also does not need a credit card.
WWIIOL is 12 years old now and is on its last legs. it needs players badly. WWIIOL recently got the Steam Greenlight, but with the player population as low as it is, they cannot afford the coder needed for the Steam interface. if the game can survive another year we can get on Steam and get the much needed advertising Steam can provide. and so I go out to spread the word any way I can.
World War II Online: Battleground Europe is just too awesome a game to let die.
Great game, offers an experience I've yet to find in another MMO. If you enjoy tanks, infantry, air, or water combat, you'll love this game as it covers everything. From logistics, to bombings runs, to objective captures, and more.
The graphics aren't fantastic, but they're more than enough to have a great experience (unless you're the type that absolutely needs the best graphics).
My favorite things to do in the game is para-drops. Second favorite has working together with a friend in a tank. The game is tactics and strategy first, so you can't just run head-first into things like you would in BF or COD. One shot can and will kill you, one shell will destroy your tank, a quick burst from an enemy aircraft will saw off your aircrafts wing. It's as realistic as it can be.
