These days a couple of hundred dollars can get a decent game engine and you can make a good 2D game without any real programming. All you really have to have is a bit of time and some art.
They've explained why they need crowd funding, and it has nothing to do with the complexity of the game itself.

That's irrelevant though since they've already met the goal. There are others though with reaching, like the 100k one.

Meh. First I have little respect for developers seeking crowd funding after their studio has already had a successful game.
Also, their goals don't make sense.

$85,000 for a cooking system? That's a really easy system to add.
$75,000 to release a PSN version? Porting a game these days is fairly easy and really doesn't do anything but help sales.
$100,000 for online multiplayer? Not difficult.
$134,000 for PS Vita version? After they have a PSN version it's another fairly simple port.

You make it sound like they've made so much off of Shattered Planet that they are sitting on the profits from it while asking for more money for their next game. That's not how this is working.

FarmerM, what are you basing all of this off of?

It doesn't really seem like you've read the page or understand the situation entirely tbh. The minimum amount of money they are asking for to aid in development in return for a copy of the game next summer (10$) isn't uncommon for indie games to start with. Additional features means additional time coding, which costs money. It's not that simple to just cut and paste some code and bam you have a working vita version either.

A lot of it is pretty simple.
Cooking for example all you need to do is detect items in the inventory and have a cook action that deletes them and adds an new item to the inventory. That's basic A+B=C. Spicing it up and adding random variables wouldn't be much harder. It's reeeeally simple especially when you already have an item system.

2-4 Online Multiplayer could easily(and will most likely) be accomplished by player hosting. That's not really a difficult thing to pull off. Most basic engines even include the tools needed to make it happen.

That is not even how the cooking system they described is going to work, but okay.

I'm gonna just wait for the game to come out next summer. I got the 25$ deal for me and a friend.
