From my time in alpha, I can say that playing on a sever that is not at max capacity is dreadful. You can't just say "I'm gonna go out and find some trade packs" or something because chances are there aren't really any people on the vast ocean. However, it's also true that insane queues are going to turn people away. I have no idea what should be done tbh.

1 or 2 servers per region is pretty much necessary, otherwise most f2p players are just going to quit since they don't know archeage is pretty awesome and they just see the 2 hour queues and stuck waiting for quest items in a conga line.

literally no land on the patron servers, which means why should a f2p roll there?
need atleast 2 new servers per region, and we should be fine.
I completely understand the frustration. And you're right, come Tuesday the queue times will be even longer. Everything is inflated right now though because of this game's hype. Did you know there are no queue times during oceanic/sea primetime? Things will normalize when time passes, people are playing for ridiculously long periods of time, which is expected for a hyped game at launch. I mean shit, I played for 24 hours straight (I'm not even exaggerating, I logged when servers opened and got off when they went down). You need to be careful about adding servers for the longevity of the game, especially for a sandbox game where server mergers would be way more complex.

No you can not, the lose their land when they stop paying for it. Which btw fellas, after a couple months you'll see a LOT of land open up.

Land actually isn't that big of a deal. You can get a few logs per day from growing trees... or you could just kill some mobs and trade the loot for the logs. People honestly blow land owning out of proportion. You can use other people's land if they let you. People get houses because you can teleport to them, you're free to teleport to your friends houses if they let you record a teleportation point there too.
The "best" areas depends on what you want. I got my land near my favorite trade pack crafting bench. Some people like them on the shore because it facilitates overseas trade.
Land's not a necessity at all. It can be convenient to have, though.

In my opinion, AA's PvP is insanely good. I don't know why an MMO would ever be needed to be recognized as a sport... but okay. It's tab target with a very short GCD so attacks some fast and you've got to think quick. Each skill applies an effect which can then be amplified/changed into another effect by using a skill that combos with it. For example, there's a backstab called precision strike that does tons of damage. Then there's archery skills called piercing shot and charged bolt.
Piercing shot applies a slow, Charged bolt applies bleed to slowed targets, precision strike does an extra 37% damage on bleeding targets.
You have to think to put together the best combos and it completely takes my mind off the tab target style (I'm a total action junkie). It feels like action to me.

It helps that 90% of the moves have no cast-time or animation lock.

What exactly was inferior about pre 1.0 compared to 1.2? Sea traffic was better, gold npcs for intercontinential trade, fishing was better, no shitty daily quests that give you free gildas without the risk of trading, no shitty tax certificates one could just buy off the market, actual loot tables for mobs, less merchant bought items for crafting, inventory expansion was not a cash shop item, you were rewarded for discovering stuff.

Oh, and the sub was half the price it is for EU/NA with a lot less crap in the cash shop.

So again, just how is the current version superior to pre 1.0?

Sad to hear that it did not spark with you. I really enjoy it, although the quests are a bit lackluster. I do recommend researching the endgame as it's a ton of fun, might change your mind!

Finally built my large farm, I've got tons of land claimed and need to start turning it into profitable land.

I've no evidence for suggesting this, but something tells me that more people would stick to the game if the early-game weren't so lackluster. It feels like the quest-and-grind that everyone's so disgustingly tired of that all it takes is 10 levels to get tuckered out from it all (lord knows I don't blame them).

One of the only reasons I keep on playing is my interest in the late-game and how it will play out (trading, commerce, PvP, et cetera...), and then after that... Well, I stick with the game or not, lol.

Maybe I'll play it. I have it installed since I participated in the Open Beta.

If I do play it, I have no idea what server I'll be on.
Based on Twitch views, people are really loving the game so far... we'll see! I couldn't get in the game today, like many others.

Another concern is that numerous people have already said that the game is pay-to-win, or at the very least free-to-fail. I have played my fair share of p2w games, Allods and Runes of Magic. But, my excuse is that there weren't many good games back then. Nowadays you have options and there is a lot of competition. Since there are great games out there now that are not p2w I can't, in good conscience, support a p2w game.

4300 in queue for Salphira server.

very nice...ill be lucky to login and create my first character before I need to sleep for work tomorrow

edit: btw, do Patrons get priority in queue? so their wait times are considerably shorter? I would assume so but...need clarification.

i been holding of trying this game because honestly i didnt really see anything yet that blows my mind. ive watched a few streams here and there and all i saw was a grown up acting like a 10 year old goofing around without purpose lol
This is complete honesty here from my pov. The questing sucks. It's boring. However, it's made fun by constantly pvping over quest mobs or locations. It creates an awesome endless cycle of revenge. After the questing phase however, endgame is gorgeous... that is if you love to pvp. You get into the trading, sailing, pirating, and before you know it, your everyday actions can start 50vs.50 wars.

queues atm are awful. Yes, the game won't require you to spend a dime and you can be just as competitive as you like that way. Don't pay any mind to the forum raging, there's literally a fraction of real information over there.
