Smile Heroes of Newerth, why did everybody leave?

http://www.heroesofnewerth.com/home/ I will admit that there are in other people's opinions that better MOBA's are out right now. But I urge you to take a try at HoN again. It peaks around 50-60k people online at once. It really deserves a influx of new people. You may like League and you may like DOTA 2, but I urge you to try this game again. I have been playing it alot recently, and I have been really enjoying it.

    Just give it a try.

I am not the best at making posts, hence why I don't have very many posts over my time here, but give this game another try even if you have already played it or never played it.

HoN was supposed to be a successor to Dota, a lot of players played it but they ended up just making it worse and worse. Changes such as their own heroes which were over powered, and to finally kill it they added the early access.

It just died when Dota 2 came out since the players that played it expecting a Dota successor found Dota 2. It still is a decent game but I feel like Dota 2 is much more polished and balanced.

their new heroes just plain ol' suck - either too op or too shitty. and what abu said about the early access... I dropped 30$ for it when it first came out and they aren't getting anymore from me.

Ok, I have played DOTA 2, and I just feel that this plays almost the same and I have only really played plague rider so far which his ult acts the same as Lich's. I really like this when I am tired of playing DOTA though in this game you tend to get stuck with at least one horrible person (personality wise) I really think it has potential if more players come back (which means more people to complain about problems) for them to fix imbalances, or whatever other player people are having with it.

from a person who played dota for 5+ years, league for 3+ years and gave HoN a shot when league was in beta: HoN was amazing at first. In fact I bought it when the game was buy 2 play, however, it quickly got mundane. The problem is that it was so similar to dota, nothing set it apart except from its graphics - which I loved. I couldn't stand to play the same game I had been playing for 5 years, which is why league eventually won the race. For what it's worth, I don't play mobas anymore. Huge time sink with no real sense of progression.

Because LoL, Dota 2 + Archaic payment model (which I think they changed now, but it's already too late).

the game is too annoying to get into, so much more comfortable playing another moba tbh but it does have its charm with it's graphics

When I tried playing the game, the HoN community put the LoL community to shame with their toxicity and elitist attitude. It was also annoying when HoN players would go into preacher mode whenever LoL was mentioned. That's just my experience.

About the only good thing to come from HoN was this,
