Aion is not grindy anymore. Whoever you got that info from is 4 years in the past. I would suggest trying Aion. Archeage just released too which is a promising sandbox mmo. If a game you seem interested in is f2p you might as well just download it and try it.

I am more concerned about the pvp rather than pve...grinding, i can still deal with but if at the end game, I realize that the pvp sucks then the grinding would be for nothing...so yeah even if the game is grindy but the pvp is awarding then it's worth it.
