This is the message that the community of Wizardry Online was informed about on January 23, 2014.

Little about this game

Wizardry Online, a Massive-Multiplayer-Online-Role-Playing-Game (MMORPG) published by Sony Online Entertainment in 2012, was shut down permanently on July 31, 2014, renduring it unavailable for North America. Wizardry Online is based off the iconic Role-playing PC game Wizardry Series developed by Sir-Tech which has spawned 9 titles from 1980 to 2001 and has since inspired countless PC role-playing games. Wizardry also had significant influence on early console RPGs such as Dragon Warrior and Final Fantasy.

The gaming community of Wizardry Online is currently seeking a gaming publisher that will partner up with Gamepot and ultimately revive our game for our Northern American players. Developed by Gamepot, Wizardry Online has great success in Japan and we believe it has the maximum capacity to be successful in Northern America as well if given the chance it respectfully deserves.

We need as much support as we can get! Currently, articles are popping up all over the net talking about the action that is being taken to revive our game.

What is your reasoning for saying the combat system is bad? It's by far the best combat system I've ever seen in an MMO. It's tactical, meaning you can't just slam your face into the keyboard and expect to succeed. You have to know when to block, when to dodge backwards, when to swing, went to use skills, when to try and combo. The combat system is remarkably deep if you spend more than 10 seconds on it.

As for the graphics, they are DIFFERENT. not BAD. As in, it's more focused on a zoomed in perspective and smaller areas vs gigantic zoomed out areas that take away from what your toon actually looks like. The gameplay is very deep. It does not feature a full crafting system, but what it does feature is the deepest character creation system I've ever seen. What I mean by that is, think of the Diablo 2 skill trees. Only in Wizardry you can swap to a different class, grab up to 5 skills, and bring them back to your original class. By doing this you can create unique viable builds, and is a vital part to the gameplay. Wizardry is focused on your character and what type of character you want to be. Want to be a tank mage? Be an Earth mage with defensive buffs. Want to be a DPS fighter? get attack buffs from Priest. Want to be a sneaky stab thief? Get attack buffs from fighter and priest. The list goes on and on. It's an incredibly deep system.

As for the questing system, do you seriously prefer walking in a straight line killing X amount of mobs, walking to Y destination to turn in? In Wizardry it's dungeon based. You advance in the game by clearing the dungeons, each dungeon is full of unique puzzles and traps you have to navigate (not to mention punishingly hard mobs). The first few dungeons are easy, but the difficulty rapidly increases as you go.

Have you played before? By play, I mean find your way out of the starting area? I didn't realize you looked into graphics more than you look for game play. Unfortunate, really.

And if that's the case, do go play Demon Soul. I can't say much to someone who plug their ears and goes "LALALALALALALA" rather than take it into perspective. =) I didn't realize it was up to you to decide what game was good and was bad? Shocker.

atmosphere, mate. a game isnt just about nice colors. fighting stuff in a doom and gloom kinda feel makes more sense to me than "HAHA CANDYLAND oh sweet mother of SWEET MOTHER IS THAT A DEMON!? RUN!!!!!"

We are trying to spread the word as far as possible. I have yet to come across this board before today. I am happy to hang around and talk to you all about games, but I am here specifically to talk about Wizardry. Especially because a lot of people seem to have misconceptions about the game.

For example I've seen a lot of people talk about how if you die once you lose your character forever.. That is not even close to true. It's actually ridiculously hard to perma die. A lot of people never gave this game a chance. In fact most people I talk to cite things like bad servers or lack of customer support, and things like that. Well that's not the game, that's the people running the game. As in SOE. We are trying to get a publisher to actually pay attention to this game to make it amazing.

Troll's will try and attack anything you can bring at them with no reasoning in order to make themselves feel accomplished in some way.

Not sure why this sheep keeps getting fed, but since we're here an arguement must be made. All of this is opinion based, no one actually cares what this guy thinks. His opinion is pretty much invalid to those in this cause.

People failed to see was that it’s style was modeled for the classical feel, rather than the cinematic sparkle vomit styles commonly seen today. The game has to look like a movie for people to enjoy it, to appeal to the spoiled little sheep they are. Some people would rather just play a pretty movie where you can either buy your levels and max gear, or achieve them in a few days while their hand is being held the entire way in a NO CHILD GAMER HALL BE LEFT BEHIND attitude, others prefer to have to work to achieve something. A true gamer knows graphics have nothing to do with gameplay, if anything sparkles take away from the feel of the game. But then again, today vampires also sparkle and people love them. This is the world we're dealing with. We do not mix well with carebears is all. I prefer they stay in their WOW circle jerks where I don't have to worry about them crying when I kill them and loot their corpse ^_^.

1 What game are you currently playing or what game is it that has mightily trumped Wizardry Online by your standard's

2 How far did you actually make it in Wizardry Online by this i mean soul rank or dungeon

By answering these questions I will be able to understand where your coming from a little bit and maybe better assist the issues your having

Wizardry was the best MMO I played it gave a lot of people new friends and awsome experience (not just to lvl), It did not have the best graphics, nor the best gameplay. However it did have the best experience I searched for that non other than wizardry was able to give. It might have died however we are the priests who have resurrect 7 and there is more than enough people to put in the effort to revive this game, given the help of Subagames and MMOHUT shout outs the winners are the ones who get their wish...
