Introduction
Hey everyone! You know how there are some people that play World of Warcraft exclusively for years and don't really every play anything else? Well I am looking for a game that I won't just uninstall after 3 weeks of playing. I bounce around from game, to game, to game, to game. I play minecraft for a while, league of legends for a while, guild war 2 for a while, planetside 2 for a while and I try other games in between (no I don't rotate in this order). The point is, I am tired of game hopping or having the "gaming ADD". I hate just giving up on a game and not playing it for months because I am bored and don't know what to do.
I prefer a free to play game, but if it is a game I will love and want to spend my downtime playing for a long time I don't mind paying a little bit, but it at least needs a way for me to try it out for a few weeks to see if I will get bored with it or not.
Two extremes I want to avoid.
I love Guild Wars 2. It is my favorite MMORPG to date. The only thing is, I missed large periods of time playing it due to college and so I feel like it has changed so much and I missed so much of the story that I am just lost and don't want to read every single thing I missed to catch up. Also, the game makes my physically and mentally tired. It takes 4 hours to get the simplest tasks done. I love the game, but you have to devote a ton of time to it. When I have the time to devote I just have sooo much fun.
On the opposite side I hate the idea of straight up quest grinding like in Runes of Magic and the Perfect World games where you can sit there and do 1,000 quests in an hour. The quests get boring. They are so easy I just get tired of the game after a while and you have to run a ton of them to gain any levels when you are on the higher half of the level system.
In short, I don't want a game I have to devote my life to being able to get tasks done, but I don't want to get quest flooded with busy work.
What I look for in a game.
(These are in no certain order)
Crafting - I love a game with a good crafting system. It gives me something to do when I am tired of questing, dungeon crawling, and doing other things. It also provides me with items I need so I don't have to go buy them. and in some games, it can be a means of making an income. guild Wars 2 is a great example of this!
Pets - I love pets (no I don't mean useless vanity pets). Battle pets are sooo cool. I would love the ability to capture almost any mob in the game and train it with skills and stats that make it effective in combat. Dragon's Prophet has a pretty cool pet system from what I have seen of it so far!
Economy - I love a game with a great online economy. Auction houses, players owned shops, trading posts. I love them all. Also, the economy can not be overly inflates or dead (such as the perfect world games) I love Guild Wars 2's Black Lion Trading Post, I also like runes of magic's auction house, I ALSO like how on perfect world games you can go into town ans set up a stand, your own price, and sell anything. (I am not looking to combine them or anything just as long as there is some type of system)
PvP - I love PvP, especially Guild battles. Guild battles are a must for me. I like the idea perfect world came up with guilds fighting over territory. I also like the runes of magic style where you siege against each other trying to break down the castles. Open world PvP is okay, but not a must.
PvE - Dungeons, world bosses, events, the more the PvE side offers the less bored I will be. (just don't quest flood me) Also I really like the ability to just level up killing things. I know you can do that in most any game, but it is soo slow to do it. If I get tired of questing I want to be able to go out and kill things for exp. I don't want to kill 5 mobs and end up with 5 xp if I am level 78 and it requires 100k to level up.
Community - Guild, Guilds, Guilds. A highly populated game with many guilds is always refreshing. Also I prefer a game where the majority of the population is made of nice people. I have played Dragon's Prophet for a while now and have never seen a single troll. They are all helpful and nice. Also, I really like guilds that use voice chat lol.
Classes/Races - I love a high selection of things to play, but I don't require it. As long as there are 5 basic classes at least I am fine. I do enjoy, however, a game that has the ability to customize your characters skills and stats and all. I mean it does get kind of boring when there are only 5 classes and they all do the same things. Every tank is a tank, same stats, same armor. It gets boring. But if you can have a mage tank, melee mage, a character skilled with different weapons like bows and great axes, just random things that make it more customizable and interesting.
Mounts - I love mounts. If the game is hugely open world I would much prefer there to be mounts.
Things I don't want in a game.
I don't want a game what sends you on quests and doesn't show you where your goal is or tell you how to complete your goal. I know every game has a handful of quests like this, but if there is nothing but non specific quests I want nothing to do with it.
I don't want a game that is pay to win and full of nothing but max level players. It has to have a healthy thriving community.
If it is a free game I don't want over half the features to be restricted unless you pay money. Then it just feels like a trial version.
No little kid style graphics please. I don't mind Runes of Magic or World of Warcraft's graphic styles, but please don't give me a game that looks like it jumped out of a bedtime book.
Please no FPS games. I play Planetside 2 for that.
Conclusion
Thank you for reading my post. I realize there is no "perfect" game. i also realize that I may not be able to find a game with everything I want in it, but this is the kind of game I think I would just love. I hope you guys come up with some interesting games for me to try out! I look forward to trying out some fun new things and having a good time! ^_^ (for it to be truly perfect in my eyes there would be thousands of more things I would want in it and I could go nuts trying to look for the 100% absolute perfect game but such a game doesn't exist)
