lol. no its really good, theres just so many aspects about it that scream dark souls but they dont try to hide it, and its all in a good way. instead of souls you have salt, instead of bonfires you have sanctuary's. there's even a couple things in it that i dare say are done better than dark souls did. for example if you die your salt will never become a little ball of souls/salt on the ground, instead you always have to beat a enemy to retrieve it. if a boss absorbed your salt you have to beat down its HP bar till a certain level to retrieve it.. which also gives the boss a short stun.
next to that theres a sphere grid like skill system where you spend your levelups on. most nodes are stat bonuses but along the web you will pick up nodes that allow you to wear things like 'swords rank 2' or 'heavy armor rank 4' just to give an example.
you got your equipment load % and your fatrolls/runspeed tied to that, you got a variant of a estus flask.
thankfully no durability. on the other side though you have your dragons dogma like wound damage system where the more you get hit, the less hp you can recover.
the moveset of weapons is not as advanced as dark souls's but you can make some flashy combos with certain weapon types
its a great but really difficult game, im not so skilled in 2d platformers but just like in DS your enemy has their own moveset which you adapt to overtime, allowing you to get experienced in the combat allowing you to win in the end
