Developers are paid to lie, it's their job. CDPR are just calling it "optimization" instead of downgrade. Just because you change the word doesn't mean you changed what you did, it still looks a lot worse than the e3 trailer.

They will also toss around stuff like "The e3 trailer wasn't a finished product you can't downgrade something that never got released" and "That was running on an old engine, the new engine works and looks a lot better".


CDPR should just outright say it's a downgrade because they couldn't get it to run on consoles and they didn't want to spend extra time making it look good on PC because then it wouldn't sell on consoles. If they didn't lie it'd be more alright.

EDIT: Holy shit I watched the video after I posted and the guy said exactly what I posted. That's beautiful.

He may have said SOME things you mentioned but you still completely missed the point of his words because you're so obsessed with all devs being liars.

One, the dev speciafically explained the distinction between downgrading and optimizing the game to be playable, he didn't just substitute downgrade with optimization like you claim.

Two, he also explained what a 'trailer' is. Paraphrasing him, it's engine (not gameplay) footage that is then further enhanced with various visual effects to make it look better for presentation purposes. He wasn't lying, hiding or evading it. He said it out right in the video that trailers are made to look better then the actual game. (which is pretty obvious to anyone who has played more than one game is his life)

Three, the game already requires an i7 and a GTX 980 to run Ultra settings fluently. How can it be a downgrade when the game still requires a hefty machine to get it to look as best as it can while still being playable? Of course you'll probably claim that the devs deliberately made it run worse on PCs to hide the fact the it was 'downgraded'. Honestly though, I'll take take CDPRs word, a company that have proven time and time over that they really care about their audience and want to provide them with the best experience possible over a nobody's childish and unprofessional OPINION any day of the week.
