Default Age of Sail Games (plus I need help)

So, this thread is another one of my recent "what is the best ____" threads. The topic of this thread is Age of Sail games.

But before I get into that, I am having trouble remember the title of a ship battle game I was looking forward to. It was a very realistic game with superb graphics. So far as I remember, the entire premise and point of the game was to provide a platform for (sail) ship battles. Any help would be appreciated.

Anyways, what is your favorite "Age of Sail" (1600-1800) type games? I've played Uncharted Waters in the past, and even some Pirates of the Burning Sea. I've also played Pirates 101 (which I didn't like too much).

I like Uncharted Waters because it has some awesome features, lots of content, and I think the trading is better. PoTBS, though, had much better ship-to-ship combat and ground-based combat.

Are there any other games I'm not thinking about?

    Empire: Total War is good

also, Sea Dogs, and its sequel which was renamed to Pirates of Carribbean near the end of development and has almost nothing to do with the films

i'll have to go back and try it again some time but iirc East India Trading Company is pretty meh

Assflag is pretty fun too i guess

    never played Risen 2.

Think the only game I've played with naval battles was the ships From Assasins Creed - Black Flag, Also It's old but I think Voyage Century is a Age of Sail type game.

Waiting for World Of Warships but that's like 20th Century ships xD

Edit: Forgot there's Sid Meier's pirates too.

Florensia the mmorpg had ship battles that were interesting, though people didnt care for em too much. Pixel Piracy is a pretty neat single player roguelike where you command a pirate crew that raids islands and ships.
