Default Voxelnauts - VR/Non-VR Indie MMORPG

I searched for this via google and vbull for threads here on onrpg, but it came up with no results, so here is a thread for it. Inspired by Minecraft, etc. It's a Sci-Fi-Ish MMORPG that allows players to build stuff, destroy stuff, go to other planets, etc.

    Kickstarter: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects...elnauts-vr-mmo

    Website: http://voxelnauts.com/

    Greenlight: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfile.../?id=445490308

Also built on Linux. Oh and, no forced Open World PVP.

Only plays Magic DPS Classes, Healers and Machinist/Engineers.
    Playing MMO: FFXIV (Balmung)
Waiting On: FFXV, KH3, Tree of Savior, RE:FFVII · Saving For: New Computer

See, but while there's so many VR Micecraft inspired games, this one seems to have a charm to it.

I like it. Thanks for sharing.

Also the way they utilized smaller voxels to add shadows is really eye-catching to me.

Indeed. I love it too actually. Way better looking than TROVE or those other ones.

Right. Trove was hideous and underdeveloped imo.

Tonnes of companies are trying to be the next Mojang and bring out a new "Minecraft"-like game that will be more popular, but I don't see it happening at all.

This actually looks very promising. I'd be so disappointed if it wasn't successful because I really would like to give it a shot. Yeah, TROVE was really bad, no voxel based game has ever quite come close to how smooth and simply right MC is, hopefully this one will be different.

It's different than say, Minecraft, because its an MMO and the entirety of the world is built by the players via the tools they give you. If any of you ever played Neverwinter Nights back in the day- its kind of like this. Shards is another game taking this approach, and tbh I'm surprised more games don't do this. It's makes for literal infinite replayability. Each planet can have its own monsters, weapons, progression system, custom game mechanics, possibly even custom physics? If you can dream it, art it, and code it, you can build it.

Obviously Voxelnauts is inspired by Minecraft, but its going to be much much more than that.

If I had more money to give I've be throwing it all at this project. I love what it stands for.

Yeah. They're making roughly 50 bucks a day, definitely won't hit the goal.

It just shot up about 10,000 or so USD in a day or so, now up to 84,100 USD.

People learned their lesson after Cube World. And City of Titans...And every other kickstarter game from indie devs thinking they can make a huge game.

Did they say anything about continuing to develop the game?

    Or are they completely quitting?
