Alrighty, so I finnaly purchase God of War since it was only 20 bucks. I've heard so many pros over cons about this game, I swear I'd crap myself in excitement. So I stick er in the PS2 and I get disc read error. This happened a lot ever since... iono. Any idea where the problem might be? Im using a maxwell lens cleaner as we speak and its at least stopping the error for now.
Edit: Well not really... it still says "Disc Read Error" everytime I insert GOW. I guess Ill just have to keep restarting until it works like Tekken 5...
I forgot the secret I read in a Gamepro magazine but it's like you put scotch tape and then you do something. And the disc will be able to read even though there's tape on the disc.
But don't put the tape on, I dunno if you have to do something else first.
Not what you're looking for, but good for those of you with scratched discs, put smooth peanutbutter on the disc, and rub it in with a soft cloth until the peanut butter is all rubbed off, but some will stay in the scratches, so the game/ music disc will work a lot better. just in case you wanted to know. my friend did it with his scratched up fable disc, which was totally screwed, and it works normal now.
Just go inside and clean out the system yourself. Worked for me and it isn't hard at all, no real risk of messing it up unless your an idiot or something.
I used to get that problem. I rented a game from Blockbuster and ever since then my PS2 has been f-ed up. My brother used a guide from some site on how to open up the whole PS2 and fix the problem. It definetly works better now but it's still not "new". You probably got a bad cd that f-ed up your PS2. There's other people with the problem too I think.
