Long time lurker and former member here. I for one am glad these users have been handed their long overdue punishments. Maybe now like-minded, intelligent OnRPG members can threads containing some mature debate and discussion without having memes and overused internet 'insults' thrown in our faces.

I hope this is the start of a more mature and well managed discussion board. Rules are there for a reason and should be strictly upheld. Managers and Moderators alike should avoid giving 'friends' free passes just because they have posted here longer than other users.

I will help this community better itself by adhering to its rules and making full use of the report post function. In the past I have heard moderators talk of looking at their report emails and basically ignoring them because 'it's just the regulars messing around again'. If this is what you think maybe you should reconsider your position as a forum moderator and let someone else that would enjoy the task take your place.

I hope this post does not shine a bad light on my personality, I do like to have fun, when it falls within the rules of the current establishment. But I have already seen this message board fall from a great, fun, active community into the cess pit that it has become and hope to be part of its rise from the ashes to its former glory.

    Poacher out.

You're basically looking on the shiny part of the coin.

That is great, glad to hear it, but I heard the same thing when GameRenders died. You throw out all the junk in your apartment and all you're left with is an empty apartment. I'm not saying that will happen to ONRPG; I'm hoping it doesn't because I've seen enough forums die in the last couple years, but I believe the people who visit forums are a niche group. Most people would rather facebook, tumblr, and twitter.

Dizzy, lets be fair. If you want a healthy community don't encourage all these one posters to only join up for a give away. This won't make the forum active...

I'd like to point out that Fluff didn't post any pictures. Nor did I, Ham, or any of the CBK that you hadn't already banned. Your issues are with the trolls you've already banned :/

Also will you be rewarding member loyalty now? In the past things like giveaways and events have been sololy click bait that increases the number of members/views but rarely do they stay for more than five minutes and that isn't on the CBK. They don't stay because they only had one intention when joining. If you were to reward activity over sign-ups you'd probably have a more active community.

All and all I am looking forward to seeing how this site progresses. This is definitely a risky gambit that could make or break the forum.

Replying to both of you. When in my power I've been offering early access to giveaway assets for more veteran members only.

In regards to the giveaway section, this is typically out of my hands, as a coordinated effort to do a favor often involving potential ad buys to support business. These business side people aren't interested in seeing any level of exclusiveness limiting potential players either already part of their game community, or possible new members to their game community, in exchange for our forum regulars.

Events like this have helped keep the site afloat through some really hard times in recent years. They're not going to be stopping just because a couple old time members of our forums think they should be getting paid freebies just for being here first.

No, but from time to time it would be nice to have a actual give away to the members that have been here longer than 3 minutes. It's kind of annoying to enter something and be stuck under like 300 pages of one posters to then find out 10 people won, and all were one posters.

Tbh, I started to give less infractions when I had over 90% of all infractions on a single page in said section for weeks. :/
That and there are too much reports about someone feeling butthurt because someone disagreed with them.

And your massive picture spamming in those Event-Coverage articles is crashing my browser. Why're those still there? Especially since you're posting 50++ pictures of 1~3 MB on a single page. I thought by now people would've learnt that it's possible to downsize pictures.

A vast number of people don't have issues with images of that size. A big part of the review is to give users the opportunity to see screenshots of the game and they often like more than less. There are usually only 5-6 .jpg images loaded with each article, and sometimes (usually only on MMOHuts) an image gallery is provided. That gallery only loads thumbnail images and loads the full image as you click on the thumbnail images. There really shouldn't be an issue unless you're using a computer from 1994 and/or a very bad satelite or dial-up connection (both of which, I assume, is quite rare for the userbase of OnRPG/MMOHuts).

The image spamming in the chatbox, however, caused an error of sorts sometimes and would make use of the chatbox impossible because the images were so huge compared to the size of the chatbox.

I'm not talking about game reviews. I'm talking about things such as this: http://www.onrpg.com/articles/editor...ight-mobile/7/ .

Stop looking down on people if you don't even read their posts. And if you're still confident that no one should have a problem loading this page: There are people who don't live in metropolises and have a 10 Gbps connection.

I live in a town of less than 900 people that requires a drive of 35+ minutes in any direction on a 65MPH speed limit High Way to get to the nearest town (not city, town). So it's not like you have to live in a metropolis.

Articles like that which you linked are meant to be image heavy. The whole purpose of them is to share pictures from special events that happen once a year. They appear two or three times a year when someone from the OnRPG/MMOhuts team attends the special conventions. If that's you're worry, it shouldn't be as they appear so infrequently. Heck, you're looking at an article titled, "Sights, Sounds, and Cosplay of Day 3 Part 1" that implies that it will be image heavy.

Okay. But not everyone lives in North America.

It's not about the amount of pictures, it's about the size. There's no problem with a page that contains 50 pictures with a size of 200 kB each. However, it's just not feasible to have fifty 2 MB pictures on a single page. It's really not that much work to edit a picture and reduce it to a reasonable size.

Except for rare occurences, those articles on OnRPG are read by how many people each? Before you removed the viewer count, it was 20 to 100. If you want to improve that number, I think you should try to listen to every little suggestion and every little piece of critizism instead of blindly defending your output.
