Default I'm building an arcade machine

Since it's wildly impractical for me to collect the actual arcade machines, I've committed to building a mame cabinet from a raspberry pi. All the hard work of programming and stuff has already been done by people far smarter than me, but I'll be hooking up the buttons and joysticks and building the wooden cabinet to house everything.

I'm building it strictly for arcade games. Not big on vs fighters though. What are your favorite arcade games? Simpsons and tmnt will be my first plays.

I'll be doing a blog post detailing how I did it, the parts are on their way. I'll definitely post the finished project here when I'm done.

I liked Puzzle Fighter and Trog. I don't understand why you want to build a cabinet like this for games that you could play without the giant box, but if it makes you happy, good luck.

I dunno if it's possible to do, but my favorite arcade games were always the rail shooters like House of the Dead, Time Crisis, Virtua Cop, etc. First time I went to Eight on the Break with friends, I aimed for HotD2 lol.

Also Tetris is a pretty fun game to play in the arcade. Are you making multiple cabinets or just 1?

Just building one (unless one of my friends asks me to after using mine), but it'll be using MAME so it'll only be limited by what the emulator can handle.

I love rail shooters too, CarnEvil was my personal favorite. I don't think I can do those though, because I'll be using an LCD and those don't work with light gun games.

Making a CRT arcade system is a lot harder. You could probably make it happen with some solding or are you just planning to build the case, put a TV in it with mini-itx pc, using a emulator OS or linux?
