Looks quite interesting. May refund Foxhole (which I bought last night before learning about Gunheart) and get this.
I think the only other hub-based co-op mission runner for VR is Raw Data, and last time I tried Raw Data it didn't look nearly as smooth or complete as this one does. What really has me interested is the hub-based mission running.
Combat seems simplistic at best, though. I'll need to watch some more gameplay but from what I've seen it appeared like it was mostly a quantity over quality thing.
What really has me interested, though, is the lore. It reminds me a lot of Borderlands or Fallout in that it shares that over-the-top absurdity way.
The aiming is over simplified in the fact that most weapons have a tracked reticle showing you where your shots will go. The AI is also rather lackluster in that, they kind of just bum rush you and when they don't...they just randomly lob shots at you from standing in the open next to a box.
The game is incredibly fun though and the various upgrades and cosmetics you unlock provide a fair amount of customization. The game has a bright future in the VR world. Having a blast with it.
10/10 for also beating out all the crazy amount of wave shooters.
I put about 40 minutes in so far. Honestly not much to the game yet, unfortunately. Weapons feel really bad, unfortunately. They don't feel as accurate as they should, and I'm not 100% sure why. It often feels quite inaccurate, but perhaps that's just the base pistols I was using combined with low skills? I wish the retical either augmented your shooting (IE, provided a slight bit of tracking to make it easier to hit things) or disappeared altogether.
The enemies are a bit of a problem, too. Sometimes it seems like their AI breaks. Other than that, I liked them a decent amount. I feel like they should give you a 'rear view' camera in your HUD, though, as it seems like the only time an enemy hits me is when I don't notice it behind me.
The game is quite promising. The customization is interesting, and I'm hoping they add a lot more. Some of the UI elements (in the shops) really need to be improved, too. I feel like the lobby could be bigger and somewhat more interesting. Maybe I'm missing something, but right now it's fairly boring for being such an important part of the game. I feel like a space station-sized hub with a lot of different shops - for gear, cosmetics, and entertainment - would be a lot more fun. Perhaps that the end-game plan.
