Default Any new anime to look out for?

i know this isnt exactly the best place to ask but anyone here still watching anime? lol
i havent really watched anything since the one punch man hype till last week when i picked up RE: Zero and The Ancient Magus Bride out of boredom. both pleasantly surprised me with its story. re: zero was really confusing and frustrating at times. i feel like its best described as a anime that copies many other anime formula's in to a twisted cruel world. i swear i went from 'is this sword art online?' to 'is this hirugashi?' to 'is this Erased?' to 'is this tokyo ghoul?' lol. ontop of that we have the most mentally unstable and weak ass main character ever, but somehow it all works out well.

very nice trailer that sums it all up, but be warned of possible spoiler material

I'm still not sure what to think of The ancient magus bride, but so far it has been a wonderful fairytale, kinda like Spirited away but with more of a dark twist.
even some of the music reminds me of spirited away. it has the same kind of dreamy visuals and calm story pacing, but i have only watched up till episode 8. episode 3 was by far my favorite and really send those shivers down my spine at moments :P
(trailer link, because onrpg doesnt allow 2 video tags)
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4gXcTE-po5I

So i keep thinking to myself theres not a single decent anime coming out anymore while all these good shows are getting past by me somehow lol. i either tend to judge a book by its cover too quick, or i just dont know the right media to follow. Sooo.. are there any other good shows a 30 year old basement dweller like me could enjoy in these dark times?

Well re:zero just basically follows the formula of mc somehow gets sent to another world. His only power is that his life have checkpoints with previous experience intact. Summary someone playing a video game that utilizes checkpoint saves except the twist is that it's not a game with normal capability.

But animes that's decent right now would be overlord 2, maybe Basilisk: Ouka Ninpouchou, or re:creators is good it's an original story.

It isn't about being no decent anime release. It's more about there's nothing currently you're in the mood for or at least that's how I feel about anime. Usually every season there's something I would stick to watch. Action, slice of life, sports, or comedy there's something to watch. Then again I've never stopped watching animation for over 10 years so maybe I'm just different. If I'm ever desperate I just try to find something old I watched before or search for something old that I might not of watched on https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/enc...a/search/genre

https://www.livechart.me/winter-2018/tv just browse through that chart I'm sure there's something. Read description or look at what might pique your interest.

ah good to know. i may just rewatch the entire thing to get me in the mood :P
also how is Black Clover, is that what i heard people call the new Naruto? if it has the same quality as naruto had in its first few seasons i may just pick it up as well but i feel like i may be getting a little too old for this stuff.

its funny how age can change your perspective so much. a good example of this is the Zabuza arc in Naruto, when i first watched it i thought it was the greatest thing ever, but if i rewatch it now it feels strangely over-acted and it drags on for way to long making it seem childish. The Chūnin Exam Stage 2: The Forest of Death however still comes over as a master piece.

Well Naruto still exist just a new generation thing going. But really got to me was the bromance. Way too much it was almost to the point of might as well make him gay.

As for black cover, how well do you handle character constantly yelling lines? I mean 70% of his lines are yelling. To me it's what kills the anime. The story is good but the way they force the character to constantly scream is too much for me to tolerate. I read the manga which makes it better because I don't have to deal with a voice actor yelling all the time. Compare to DB series this anime takes it to another level.

As for the age thing, I think it's just perspective. I mean... Is there really an age cap for liking things you find entertaining?

I guess the only change would be the change in being prone to more content maturity, for me that is.

its not really a age cap for liking things, its just standards that become higher i think, or wanting to see something different, i dunno its hard to explain lol since everyone is different. (i could go on about how if i were 20 years younger i would have liked the anime Fairy Tail but that gets a little too deep :P)

as for how well i handle characters screaming things, its funny that you mention that cause that can really trigger me as well lol. I sorta gave up on One Piece for that exact reason during his struggle to rescue Ace and picked up the manga. Attack on Titan is another nice example of that but it didn't bother me as much and still enjoyed it.
i guess ill give black clover a 3 episode chance and see for myself

Well I can sort of understand that feeling. It's complex...

I can never get into fairy tail no matter what. I do not know why, something just doesn't grab my attention about that show.

One show I really want to get into is Detective Conan aka Cased Closed. I just don't want to start from the beginning since I've seen some of them before. The show just got too many episodes and there's close to or up to 1000 episodes. Also what sucks about picking it up is some episodes might get mixed up because there's so many episodes. you could be watching episode 500 when it says 300.

While you're at it maybe you should take a look at City Hunter https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/enc...ime.php?id=384 A great childhood anime for me. Or Crying Freeman https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/enc...me.php?id=1023

nice man, what are they about? :P

as much as i loved The ancient magus bride, i had to give up on it as it turned a little to cheesy for my likes. I could see this work very well in manga, but when one of the male characters suddenly start singing in anime like a beautiful delicate pure little flower, i can't help but cringe a little, and this doesn't just happen once lol. i get the point, they are trying to set up this mysterious pure world but at certain points they are overdoing this, making it seem a very slow paced boring anime. i was hoping the story to make a drastic turn to the dark side, but instead it remains in this dreamy state where nothing really major happens.
the first 7 or so episodes were a really good set up, but it didnt feel to me it ever left that 'set-up' stage beyond that.

They are all about love. Citrus is lesbian step sister love.

One of them is set in a world of female only people that does not get a gender until they choose one I think, Simoun. It's an odd anime that have a lot of seriousness to it. Seems a little too much and makes it a little too over the top.

Well Naruto still exist only another age thing going. In any case, truly got to me was the manly relationship. An excessive amount of it was nearly to the point of should make him gay. With respect to dark cover, how well do you handle character always hollering lines? I mean 70% of his lines are shouting. To me it's what slaughters the anime. The story is great yet the manner in which they drive the character to continually (mangazuki is better than kakalot manga) shout is excessively for me to endure. I read the manga which improves it since I don't need to manage a voice performer hollering constantly. Contrast with DB arrangement this anime takes it to another dimension. With respect to the age thing, I believe it's simply point of view. I mean... Is there extremely an age top for enjoying things you find engaging?

    Default My Comment!

I think you should watch HighSchool DxD and its new seasons. The love story between the characters is amazing and the fighting is breath taking. however the new season of HighSchool DxD Season 5 could be on its way.

I'll join this necromancy and recommend the newer Netflix one, Dorohedoro.
it was actually pretty fun, the cast in particular I felt was really likeable.
