Deep Space Nine was the first Trek to show what it was like for a Federation base, and all of those people who came through. Unlike the other shows, they had to forge relationships with the same races and people time and again. It was also so much fun to see how the Ferengi race evolved in the universe, which was a great source of laughter over the years.
