    So no more PSU. And I highly suspect that is one of the major reasons why PSO2 never came here, in conjunction with people doing the free translation for it. Why risk another early closure when all the whales are flocking to the main server already up? Why bother to pay for english voice acting when all the "hardcore" fans always talk about how they prefer JP VAs? Why risk running into censorship issues/complaints because people think breasts can only come in one size or people think that any game where you can choose to make young looking characters is only ever about being a pedo? NA pretty much killed the market for anime based games, but hey that's what everyone asked for.

    I like modding when it actually helps to correct a gameplay breaking issue or adds actual depth or useful features, not when it alters a game beyond original intent like removing grind. That was one of the major reasons I could never get in to private servers either for a lot of games like RO and MS. There was always some good and some bad features but shit overall always had a bad balance to it and tended to focus on just the end.

    People hacking has caused serious issues for even Warframe: people were gaining access to things they shouldn't have and story was being spoiled among other things. It doesn't matter that it is primarily a PvE game, people hacking isn't making shit better and a lot of people don't like it because it ruins the fun for all the people who grinded for stuff.

    How would you feel if you spent days/weeks/months farming for stuff and then someone comes along and just hacks to get a bunch of rare stuff in a day? Oh it's cool though they aren't going to ever really go into public games, they just wanted it for themselves to test things out so it is cool.

    Then a few more people do the same thing: hack to get free loot, do crazy game breaking things, but only in private so it's cool, right?

    Then someone decides to go public, but even then it's cool it's still just one right? Until more people start doing it and spreading the word on how. Then you have a bunch of people who blow through content, can farm at record speeds, and completely trivialize the game for others. Most people don't like that.

    There are games out now that are ghost towns because of the mentality that hacking/duping/botting etc is acceptable. The majority of people that really like a game hate that shit because it ruins them by ruining the fun. Instant gratification gets boring, fast leveling ends with usually a stagnant endgame, and small dupes end up killing a lot of in game economies to the point a wipe is the only way to fix things.

    So my answer is yeah it bothers me, a lot, because it has actually ruined games I like and threatened others.
    Pretty much took the words right out of my mouth. In a single player game? Go nuts. Do whatever you want. In an online game with interaction with other players? I hope they kick you out and throw away the key.

    Just saying what happened to Phantasy Star happened because sega did a bad job at mod prevention in dreamcast that was never fixed. As a player from the dreamcast hacking and piracy was an major issue in the game and console. Also they left a lot of issues alone for a long time even after it was ported over. Duping and etc. was a thing they never fixed. Duping didn't even need actual modification to memory it was an issue with in game mechanics.

    Though, the difference is for games that is mainly host base vs an mmorpg. In the case of an mmorpg, it's purposely causing chaos/grief. Host base games, as in co-op games or games you join lobbies then into a game.

    Mostly cheaters on FPS and Battle Royal games bothers me a lot.
