I guess the short answer to the prompt is 5 years give or take a few months.
The longer and more complex answer is that I started playing Star Trek Online back when it first launched. I had always liked Star Trek in general, and the idea of a ST MMORPG very much intrigued me back in 2010, mainly because I had come out of just playing Star Wars Galaxies for many years. Having been severely disappointed and frankly heartbroken with SOE's decision to shutter the game, I was looking for a bounce back, something new but similar to become immersed in again.
Star Trek Online quickly won it for me, for even back then the story arcs and the rhythm of the game kept me entertained, involved, and enjoying spending time online. I took a short hiatus between 2011-2015 but got pulled back in with the latter year's anniversary event. Haven't looked back since, and can say I am tremendously happy with the expansions, story development, and the gameplay advancement. The Discovery content has yet again brought be back from a couple of months away, and like always, I am so happy that it did.
Cheers to another great new year in the great unknown.
I’ve been playing Star Trek online for nine years, and love that they keep innovating the game and keeping the content fresh. It’s great to be playing Star Trek!
I first started playing during initial release, then stopped for several years and just now getting back into the game, total time played in game is probably less than 6 months though. Despite this I am hopeful that I can win a code.
Been playing ever since Star Trek went free to play, Am Mildly interested in seeing how well this Mirror Escort Carrier will perform on one of my older Tactical characters.
