I dont make threads often but my love runs deep for this game so i thought about making a nice lengthy post of information for this game, so here we go.
I'll start with a couple screenshots to give people an idea of its timeless art style:
What is Trickster Online?
Trickster Online is a Korean isometric 2d mmorpg that was released in 2003, (2007 in English) and has often been compared to both Ragnarok Online, and Tales Weaver. however back then ragnarok focused mainly on monster grind to level up, while Trickster has a main quest line and multiple quest hubs for side quests to earn XP. It never went deep into the pvp aspect, but instead offered various mini games and features that are till this day still pretty unique. There is drilling for items, card battles, a memory type game called Card Identification and some other mini games.
Players can choose between 8 different characters which each play a little different. Power types can choose between female-Bunny or male-Buffalo, Magic types female-Sheep, male-Dragon, Charm type female-Cat, male-Raccoon, and Sense female-Fox, male-Lion. Right away when making a character you get to spend points into 4 stats, which can be a tough choice for new players. u get to pick 10 points between the 4 types: power, magic, sense and charm and that will affect how much you grow into a certain stat upon leveling. (besides the 4 points you get to spend yourself upon leveling). If it's your first time playing i recommend reading a class guide
Is this a private server?
Yes. All official servers for this game have been shut down, which still baffles me to be honest...
Is this game P2W?
Yes and no. When ntreev hosted it it was one of the most pay 2 win games out there. the current version of the game has the exact same cash shop with buy able equips for normally non-used equip slots that greatly enhance stats, stones for enhancing gear, it pretty much got all the stuff people run away from :P But Myshop points, the currency used in this shop is dirt cheap now and there are ways to earn everything for free
Free?! how?!
The website for this game offers a lot of extra features like selling items for cash points, or galders for cash points. (in addition to events which often provide cash shop items as well, like repair powders and elixirs)
There's also website compounding, tempering, a bank and some other features.
Bellow a example picture of all the things you can do:
Ok where can i get the game?
http://playtrickster.com/
personally i had to get the manual patch to get it to work on windows 10, the exe came pre-configured with the right settings
Why is the resolution so tiny?
This game was optimized for max 1024x768, however you can do some tweaks to go all the way up to 4k if you like.
personally i recommend 1600x900 as perfect resolution for this game, any bigger and things become simply too tiny.
the website to set up a custom resolution is down but there's still a video tutorial for it here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L8McU-wG7HI
(note that this method will prevent you from starting up the game if you even missed one step, but if done right it's totally worth it)
Ok i finally got this game running, what class should i pick?
there's a lot of guides over at http://board.playtrickster.com/index...rum/10-guides/
i recommend starting with a power type as they are the easiest early-game, although it's up to you, all classes can be great in some way. just note that a lion is very rough if u don't have the equipment to level them early on, it takes very long before guns become useful.
How does this drilling mechanic work?
First you need a drill from driller marky at gate of desert beach, you'll get there pretty quick.
items are hidden all over the ground in trickster, and they are pre-placed. meaning if you dig in a certain spot and get a item, the next person cannot find a item in that same spot until later when items respawn. you can best see the maps you're in as huge invisible grids where items could be sitting in every single tile like this:
1 tile is 1 step taken by your character
you randomly pick a location (or tile) and then press D to drill, thats all there is to it.
later u can buy drills for specific soil types and deeper depths, as far as i know soil type matching with the drill will only half durability cost of drilling. (-1 instead of -2 per drill)
Whats with all the sad face emoji's at gate of desert beach?
These people use a pet called driller boy or driller girl, which automatically lets them drill for as long their inventory has space, or drills are available. at some point it may be worth investing in one of these if only for the TM experience drilling at Gate of desert beach brings. Driller boy does dig a lot slower than you would do manually so keep that in mind, and it doesn't keep you safe from monster attacks. (only sense classes can continue drilling while being attacked)
What is the max level in this game?
400! which might sound overwhelming, but you'll be 200 before you know it, its only then it starts to slow down a little.
You can advance jobs at level 60 (TM50), and again at level 130 (TM120)
How does one make money, or galder?
Easy! Theres so many different ways to get rich by opening your own personal shop in town. all monster cards sell for a minimum of 200k each, and every monster card used to master a certain skill can easily go up to 1mil. Quest items used to be profitable as well, but due to the game's low population not so much anymore. the purple Lv. up Giftboxes u get from the mail every so often when leveling can get u a couple mil, and the level 40 giftbox also sells for a couple mil.
Example shop i had up while writing this thread:
easy 20 mil, which translates to about 2k cash shop points^^
Should i just keep doing this same quest over and over?
Depends, there are various types of quests in this game. Main story quests can only be done once, while key quests have to be done 5 times each in order to be rewarded a sticker(you need to finish the sticker quest in one hub in order to progress to the next), then theres Monkey T quests which can be done 25 times. I'd only do monkey T's quests if you really need TM experience, and not earlier than the area called Oops Wharf. Then there are monster quests, card quests, party quests and go on. Theres a lot of ways to play this game, but personally i do all the 1-5 time repeatable quests. You can press Q to see how much times a quest can be completed.
Is this game grindy?
Yes, yes it is.
interestingly from my video recordings i noticed most early zones up till oops wharf take about 1 hour to complete tops. after that it seems to double in time consumed. so oops wharf may take 2 hours, ghost blue 4, and now im questing in rose garden, which could easily take up to 6-8 hours.
still i wouldnt call it a bad kind of grind though, the bad kind of grind starts once u hit the snow map :P
I saw some of your video's, why do u one shot everything with 1 auto-attack?! TEACH ME SANDPIE!
Besides all the cash shop items i am wearing, most of my gear has been compounded by cash shop stones and using white/green elixirs on top of that. using the website compound feature for better results. for bad results i simply removed the stone again using Nate's Bottle and tried again. (most of these items i got free during events)
Most of my damage however comes from highly refined boss equips. at level 35 i started using the golden sword and golden lion shield, the sword i later switched for the Tombeth staff. The shield is one of the only, if not only shield that can be compounded with elemental %, which greatly multiplies damage. and the staff which i got up till level 8 for a huge damage boost, adds another 205% of wind damage.

last i'd like to share a website with a lot of useful information, and my personal youtube playlist for this game. which people can use to look up stuff on how to progress:
http://www.tricksterlover.info/Bwiki...Main_Page.html (quests by location is very handy)
my video playlist of raw gameplay: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...lrzpj3sRQ7crht
edit: one thing i forgot to mention is that there's a hidden section on the website where people can claim sweet rewards for reaching milestones in the game:
the second job reward Moon Bracelet EV is a huge help, its a weight accessory that can easily give 10k+ WT, eliminating any weight issue's that power types have. it also comes with a 150% tm xp boost, and it lasts forever. i'd say get it asap!
you can reach this reward-claim page by logging in the website > manage account > event section
If anyone has any extra questions i'll be glad to answer them^^ have fun!
