Well, if you're wondering which game to get, I'd adivse you to either get Factions, or just wait for the third expansion, Nightfall. It comes out on October 27th, I believe. Or better yet, try and get them both. If you do manage to get them both and still have some extra cash left over, get Prophecies as well. So far, the gameplay and the storyline has yet to bore me.
Now, the reason I advise you to get Factions is because that's where most of the community has gone to. Prophecies isn't too empty, but it's nothing compared to cities in Factions. If you get factions, it will be much easier to find a party AND much easier to sell items. Places like Kaineng Center (City in Factions) are great to sell items in and find some good bargains.
Let me explain what it's like for a beginner in factions. You start out on a small island. You do quests to level, and once you're high enough, you are directed to the main game where all the other level 20's are. See, if people from Prophecies wanted to play in Factions, it would be hard to have their max level characters partying with level 1's and such. So they just let you do quests which gives tons of experience on the smaller island and then let you come to the main game to enjoy what this wonderful game has to offer.
