Has anyone else realized that most of these new games aren't so great. Games like MapleStory Ragnarok, Linage, ect. are so much better. The games this era are just getting worse and worse. Wow, they have great mind blowing graphics that when you turn on the game it reenacts the Halifax Explosion with your computer. I don't care about these stupid graphics that just limits game play for people who can't afford these great computers. I don't want you to make great graphics for great lag, try making a great game. Try new game play techniques. Try making the game good!

If you were a real gamer you wouldn't care about the graphics, its the game play people! I pull all your eye balls out so that you dont realize the damn graphics and try making a good frigging game. I don't even know how it will be possible to play the damn game with no eyes, but it will be probably better then these shitty new games with the worst game play ever and realistic graphics.

Okay okay, I care about the graphics a little, I wouldn't play a game with playerworlds graphics, but if you put a little bit detail in the graphics, letting P3 computers and nVida graphics cards able to run it without crap lag, and good visual affects then I'd love the game. I just want a dang game with good game play like back in the day. That's why I say the Goldies are the Oldies, who else here agrees with me?

After skimming though it, this is where i realized how stupid this thread is.

Look at a 3D game's style of battle, say oblivion for instance, now compare that to the battle of a game like RO, Oblivion is the far greater due to its 3D graphics, you are able to move around, manually dodge, etc. However, mmorpgs are yet to pick-up on this...

Personally I would never play RO or MS, mainly due to my hate of anime and my dislike for not being to look around in any great detail.

Also there are still some good new games, just most are currently being made for money or are your average Korean grind-fest.

I look for games with a party aspect, FFXI is probably my perfect game for this, old, so some parts of your post are correct.

I say RO's a great game. But Maple, hell no. Never liked that game, and probably never will. Old games? I'd say Diablo still kicks ass in terms of simplicity and gameplay.

So far blizzards best game are diablo or warcraft III FT. Play those if you don't like MMORPGS so much.

100% Agree.
The Producer Spend so many time on the graphic and engine that they have not so many time for story and gameplay.
The Old games have a good story and good Gameplay and the Grafik is not so good but a Real MMORPG Game plays games bacause of the story and the gameplay.
For the most gamers are the Graphic on First Step and Story and Gamplay is on the Second Step but when they play this game longer they have no Fun at this game because the Graphic is for an Half Hour important and then u need better graphic and better and better ..... but the Gamplay and the Story are more and more the Second.
So i hope the next games have better story and better Gamplay and the Graphic is not so important.

I couldnt agree more with the OP, games these days are focusing far too much on graphics and it seems (I doubt they are) forgetting about game play. But what we all need to remember is games wont stay the same, its a little like music. First there was classical now theres rap. See where im heading with this?

Basicly they want to make a game thats gonna appeal to a wide amount of people, and they think graphics are the way foward. In some cases they are correct, but in others there not. Lets use Oblivion and World of Warcraft for this example.

Oblivion, the games graphics are outstanding, but I really dont think the game play is as good as Morrowind. However its almost certan it's gonna be game of the year as so many people have brought it. Even FPS fans enjoy it, and if your taking a look at it from its sales on the xbox 360, some where in most gamer score records there will be tracks of Oblivion. Does this make the game good? well if it sells..i guess it does. However I dislike the game play of Oblivion, i'd much rather have had Morrowind graphics with better game play...but im not a games dev.

Now on the other hand, Blizzard took a different look at how to get many people to play WoW. First lets look at the graphics, basicly they are far from outstanding, but they suit the game as it fits the whole Warcraft cartoon feel. Oblivion needs a decent PC to run, WoW doesnt need anything as powerful (athough 1gb ram is reccomended for less lag around the auction houses). WoW is nearly cutting 7 mil active accounts, thats alot of people playing, Blizzard (and I really dont want to go into why I hate WoW) have focused on gameplay more than they have graphics, thats WoWs plus. Blizzard try new things out with the game, some that work and some that dont (Battlegrounds).

Basicly if you read that, ive no idea if it makes any sence at all, as im tired and havn't bothered to spell check. But what im getting at is : There is still hope for new games, one im looking into at the moment is Age of Conan, check it out if you have time, theres a decent video at IGN .

Ps. Starcraft was Blizzards best game :P

I agree 99 percent of the games releases this year is CRAP btw any one got chinese/japenese/korean oriental games they could suggest to me the only good orientals are hero online and martial heroes and kal i hope yulgang will be good

I'll explain.

Look at the battle systems in a 2D game, such as maple story, its an animation with little input from the the user, you don't aim your spells, sword, dagger, arrows, etc.

Now look at the 3D battle systems in a game such as Oblivion, It have multiple animations such which has a high amount of input form the user, you aim your spells, sword, etc.

Therefore 3D graphics can provide a better amount of entertainment in certain aspects of game play.

That is how graphics can effect the game play.

Couldn't agree more; I've been playing RO for 3 years+ and just quitted recent and can't quite find any worth playing MMO/RPG either its F2P or P2P, I play RO mainly for its well provided community as well as simple and well adapted game system, and some complexities to make one thinks about. (i.e. builds/card combination adaption according to builds). And been 3 months since i've been testing out new games and couldn't quite found one that worth playing, lastest was Rappelz, got strider to lvl 47 and i realized the game was pure grinding and nothing much other than that then quit that as well, was only last week.

Its quite hard to find a good game, graphic doesnt really matter as long as developer can make stable game where players doenst require to upgrade an ultimate destop for gaming only purpose as well as be creative with new gaming styles. That is all it needs to be a good game. Then again, most game being made now are free to play so we can't expect much out of it.
