Default How is WoW better than GuildWars?

My friend said Guild Wars is better than WoW. I think they both are level grinding MMORPG and they are p2p except for Guild Wars. You just have to buy the game and you don't have to pay monthly I guess. I think thats the reason why my friend thinks Guild Wars is better than WoW. In WoW you have to pay monthly and the people are geeks and Guild Wars you dont have to pay to play monthly. Now I just play Counter-Strike with my friends and illegal Lineage 2.

In my opinion, Guild Wars is not better. It's too repetitive and you usually NEED a party. WoW you don't need a party all the time, and it's not incredibly repetitive or grind based, there are many quests, also it is really expansive. I dunno just my opinion but i like WoW better.

I own both, first I have never liked Guild Wars, much too boring. PvP is nice however, but really its not anything to go wild about. WoW I had been playing for around a year and a half until a few weeks back. Basicly they both suck, there is not one decent thing in the games that keeps me coming back wanting to play more. WoW was addictive fun, I swiched servers from europe to usa so I could game with people I'd been gaming with on Diablo II for some time, and really they are what made WoW fun, good laugh PvPing and running instances, but that can only go so far.

I guess if I had to pick one out of the two most awful games ive brought in a while, it would be WoW, its bigger, its longer, its good fun until 60. Guildwars is a decent game to play while the WoW servers are down. Each to their own though.

Yeah don't listen to the guy that tells the truth. GW is proven to be non-mmorpg. It is NOT a mmorpg.

These kinds of topics shouldn't be started if original poster doesn't even know he's comparing different kinds of genres of games.
Should listen to your english teacher when he/she tells you to learn how to write a decent insult.

And HOLY JUMPING JESUS GINGER BREAD MAN! ****ing chill out. Put aside the ____RPG crap. These kinds of topics shouldnt be started because smartasses with a few fact links try to prove themselves.

To be fair, you tried to prove yourself with an opinion. I don't really see how it makes you any better.

    Great idea buddy.

Well Leoric, try both of them. You'll either love or hate em. If you want to play the Guild Wars expansion with everybody it would cost you a pretty penny for both games, but its worth it. And a copy of WoW has gotten cheaper I think.

RPG= Role playing game. Looks like your playing a role of some insignificant person.

So call it what you will, anything of this sort is an MMORPG to me.
Guild Wars is not an MMORPG, It's a competitive game.

Anet included the Campaign so that they would attract a wider audience, long before its release, the only people intrested in it were competitive players, the PvE side of the game was an afterthought.

But for some reason the general public got the inane idea that Guild Wars was World of Warcrafts rival, next thing forums were loaded with 'WoW vs GW!?' topics.

If someone bought Guild Wars expecting it to play like an MMORPG, they would obviously be unhappy with it and tell everyone that WoW is better.

Just because a game is played online with many people, it does not mean that it is an MMORPG, do we call Battlefield an MMORPG? no.

If you are looking for a game to play with your friends, to level and feel superior to everyone, to constantly get new items to show off, Don't even think about getting GW.
WoW will probably amuse you alot more.

if you are looking for a game which requires teamwork, competitiveness, skill and strategy to defeat other groups.

And take Competitive play seriously, willing to spend hours learning the strategys, builds and counters, then Guild Wars is for you.

it has a very large learning curve, but once you're owning some of the most famous guilds it's worh it.

If you want to make a character which can own all others, don;t expect anything like that from Guild Wars, blance updates are released constantly.

Both are different games, different genres, both aimed at different audiences.

There is absolutely no reason they should be compared to each other.

This topic is basicly the same as 'OBLIVION VS CS:S!!!1'

hmm, from my point of view, everyone say GW is a mmorpg, but have u notice that if u go outside the town, itz loads. most MMORPG dont really do that, itz should be a massaive of ppl runnin around w/o the loadin to go out. so itz a CORPG or w/e.
if u cant prove ur point then u shouldnt be sayin that GW is a MMORPG. if u do, u no nothin about MMORPG or CORPG games. or u can say, ur just a newb that just want to mess around w/ pros and think ur a pro also.
but anyway, all i can say is, gw has some good points but also bad. and WoW has strong points, but also worst.
like gw, the lvlin is just too low, all u can do is buy new armors and upgrade them. the storyline is great, i really liked untill i beated then itz just became just another borin game since i cant even lvl anymore.
now to WoW, i played a while ago (where i dont need to pay *cough*) but anyway, i enjoyed, has pretty kool things to do but after a while, i got kinda bored since itz just liek other mmorpg games i played.
but i have to say is, the best MMORPG game out there is WoW.
o ya, say anythin u want, but this is how i c it.

this happened in the old forums. kids had arguements on which one was better.

obviously people who played one thought it was better and vice versa for guildwars.

i say if your into hardcore pvp guildwars is for you.

and guildwars has no grind. its basically quest/mission to get your major XP and powerlvling is very easy to do.

Thats not good for a pvp system because then its more gear and button mashing then actual skill.

Thats why GW will never be better then wow in pvp. And we all know its quest system is horrible compaired to wow. What GW does have going for it is easy travel and lack of paying for it other then buying it. Guys really be serious even a fanatic knows when something is just inferior compaired to a superior product. GW is wow's red headed step child trying to be in the family not quite making it.
You sir, have never played GW......And judging by your sig you played LOTS of WoW.

    i dont agree.

gw is very imbalanced. did you remember the days when iway was just invented?

or when you could solo underwolrd and fissure by yourself?

and when ranger spikes were one of the strongest pvp builds ever.

the gale warrior was also imbal

they do update but usaully after everything was exploited to the fullest.

only one time they took some serious actions when the prices for the rare mats reached an all time low so everyone bought them. this forced them to rerroll before that mistake. this made people who got rare drops or won halls angry and their angry comments reached every possible forum on gw.

so its not THAT balanced in my op

Hold the pancakes. The hell? Did you just criticize something that was already fixed and then stated it like it was a problem of the present?

Guildwars is more on...story. WoW is more on communities. I think WoW is better.
