    Default iPod, a bargain?

Well, I have recently given up on my ambitions to get a next-gen console (this year anyway), cause I feel I spend too much time playing games. I have decided to get a 80 GB iPod (possibly the 30 GB, but I feel the 80 GB gets me ALOT more for only 100 more dollars). http://www.circuitcity.com/ccd/howTo...ores=true#tabs

Of course I always have the option of payments, in which it would be easier to pay around 100 a month.

What would you, personally, recommend I do? I am really not interested in getting a 360 ( i was planning too, but have decided to get out more lol), or getting any other next gen console. DO you think this is a good deal, or should I invest in something else?

I would get an iRIver or another MP3 player. iPODs are more expensive but do exactly the same thing. iTunesi s a pain in the ass on windows anyway.

Just checked out IRiver's site, it looks pretty, but is only 2 GB storage, BUT it can play flash games, video, etc. It is much cheaper and looks great!

Yeah i dont think he'd use that much, but it doubles as an external hard drive doesnt it? I use around 2gigs of my Creative Zen for music and the rest is backup... Yes my music library is weak, dont laugh.

Stop listening to ******s like this.
Getting something that is 2gigs really isn't that good if you have lots of songs. Plus people just hate Itunes because it is a large company. If it wasn't the best portable player people would not hate it as much, simple as that. 2gigs really isn't that much if you cannot minimize the music. Plus if you want high quality music you must get something large. But if you are willing to sacrifice your sound for money then by all means get something less attractive looking and something that sounds worse for a few bucks.
Remember 99% of the people make their music files smaller which saves room but makes songs sound worse. I would totally go with that ipod, is it a vidoe or just one that has vidoe ability?
Because being able to download videos I think is great especially if you travel.

Amen, I got a dark red iRiver, I think I've dropped it like 18 times.... works like a charm. I lost the battery cap though. But the battery doesn't even fall out even if you swing it around.

iPod? iRock? iRiver? Is there some reason why their names follow the same theme? Is it because they are unoriginal?

Actually that isn't true. My father used up a 80gig when he had an origonal iPod. You have to remember you do not only use music on it. You can put videos, pod casts and more.

Sure, you can have 80 gigs of software on an Ipod, but who listensto that much? I'm sure your Dad may have maxed out his Ipod, but I really doubt he listens to that many thousands of songs.

But then again, 100$ for a 50 gig expansion sounds good.

I have an Ipod, and I hate it. My parents got it from me for Christmas without my consent, so like almost every technological buy they make, it was ill-researched.

If you're looking for portability, I've heard nothing but good news from the sansa (Sandisk), which maxes out at 8 gigs and works like a charm

If you want video quality, you might want to wait to see what Zune is capable of. That screen sho' is purty.

If you want general goodness, go with iZens or iRivers, but make sure you but the right one. My first MP3 was an iRiver, but I got one with only 194 megs. 50 songs, fun?

A friend of mine just got the new Sansa but only the 2gig version, it is pretty sweet, nice screen for its size we bought ours the same time, but I chose the iriver over it because of battery and sound. He got sleeker design, nice screen and video. The Sansa's prices are also very attractive, he got his for 140 CAD 2GB , and a 4GB is under 200 CAD at bestbuy.

Personally, I think the iRiver Clix is smexy. I only have about 3 GBs of music and have decided on the iRiver, I can use the left over money for strippers, sex, etc.

Mainly I like the way the iRiver looks compared to the Nano and other 2 GB of the same price. I don't mind dragging and clicking on converting files in WMP for the quality the Clix delivers compared to other 2 GB players. While there are drawbacks the pros attract me way past the cons, so I've decided to go with the Clix. I admit some of the ones you guys have posted tempted me but how can I denie flash games?

Word, I heard a 4GB was coming out in a couple months...
Clix will really draw attention away from the nano.
If you want to see a full review, here is one from CNET.
Its the highest rated mp3 player on CNET.
